Overall, WWE 2K19 is an evolutionary step forward for the series – but a big one. The return of the showcase mode offers up a lot to enjoy for fans of Daniel Bryan while the MyCareer mode brings things back that worked before – but tells a far better narrative than most. The debuting 2K Towers offer an ever-present challenge and are sure to make even seasoned players wince a time or two, and the revamped gameplay for things like striking and cage-related modes allows for more realistic matches than prior entries across the board.

It is a massive improvement for the series, with plenty of great modes to choose from, along with so many great wrestlers past and present to wrestle with. It finally feels like things are looking up for WWE 2K.

Loaded with content, WWE 2K19 still bears some of the previous games’ flaws, such as its out-dated visual and irritating micro-transactions. But there’s too much to do, too much to enjoy for all wrestling fans.

It is not an indispensable addition to any wresting fan’s library, but it does give hope that next year we will get not just an adequate game, not even a good one, but one truly great. [13/2018, p.47]

WWE 2K19 struggles to meet expectations. It’s a mid-card talent with potential, but is too set in its ways to leave any lasting impact.

I really enjoy this game and I have been having quite a bit of fun with it. The roster, championship customization, wrestler customization,I really enjoy this game and I have been having quite a bit of fun with it. The roster, championship customization, wrestler customization, entrance customization, arena customization, the amount of match types, and the overall gameplay are all good. The best thing about this game in my opinion, is without a doubt how much customization there is. The amount of customization in this game is insane, it can be a little overwhelming at times (Which I don't mean as a bad thing). However, I do have a few issues and nitpicks with this game. First off, I wish there was a way to turn off or adjust the "overall" (Without an accelerator pack I have to pay extra for) and payback mechanics to make 2 Player Mode more balanced and make wrestlers like Kalisto or Adam Cole actually stand a chance against other wrestlers like Brock Lesnar, Stone Cold, or The Rock. Second, I wish you earned more V-Coins because it seems like you barely earn any, even if your matches are 5 stars and it makes trying to get every wrestler, championship, and arena take FOREVER, it is insane. Third, there are a considerable amount of glitches and bugs while playing like the wacky hair physics, the ring ropes, and sometimes your character just keeps glitching while they are setting up their finisher, the graphics look a bit outdated at times, and the gameplay while good, isn't perfect. It seems like a few times when I try to do a reversal, it doesn't register and like I said before, it can get glitchy while playing. Another thing which isn't necessarily a problem within the game, but I think were missed opportunities. I wish they included more arenas like more Wrestlemania, SummerSlam, and past Raw & Smackdown arenas like the ones from 2002 to 2016, etc. I understand that you can just customize that but not only does that take a long time for each one you create, they don't always come out accurate, the effects on the screen and presentation aren't the same and the announcers don't announce which Pay-Per View it is. One other thing is that I wish the announcers didn't always repeat the same things, it can get repetitive and wish sometimes, they said nothing at all. Overall, this game has its flaws but I still think it is a good wrestling game and a pretty good game in general. I rated this a 10 because I don't think it deserves a 5.7 user score, my real score would be an 7.9/10. Expand

Happy to see the new and improved career mode. While I've only played a little it doesn't seem like it's that boring NXT match after NXT match to hopefully make it to the main roster. Every match and interaction with other superstars seem to serve a purpose. There are some cheesy moments during it but it's still good. Don't like how you really don't have any control over your characters moveset or entrance at the start. They give you a few but not enough.

Hope to see a patch to improve the menus. The very white menu screens aren't nice to look at, and in the creation modes it's hard to tell what option you have selected.

It's worth the pick up. If your not a hardcore WWE fan then wait until the Black Friday sales.

This game sucks, I always played the WWE games because of the Custom Wrestlers and the story/career mode and i havent played a good wwe gameThis game sucks, I always played the WWE games because of the Custom Wrestlers and the story/career mode and i havent played a good wwe game since wwe 2010. Since 2k acquired the game the character creation sucks, i don't some 8 or 10 options to choose for the body part rather i want the old style size sliders. I am waiting for the good wwe game and i think i have to forget about getting one.
If i wanna play with the original wrestlers then i just go watch a WWE on TV, Career's story better than the previous 2k wwe games but still sucks. I just wish they have never got the wwe games' license from THQ. THQ's last few games were not good but still better these 2k on's crap. I bought the game this morning and just got back from returning about half an hour ago, that shows how bad the game sucks for me. And guys down giving it a 10 need to have checked from the brain doctor. At max its a 6.5 game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In reality the game was build for the 4k machines not 2k consoles. Graphics looks terrible. Where is real laser scanning? Arenas and crowds look blurry and unrealistic. Build a new wrestling game from scratch. Gameplay is a disaster. Wwe 12 is the overall winner here. Graphics is beaten by wwe 17. Some superstars are better. Where is realistic entrances. Even the smoke needs to improve and lighting . Scan real arenas. Commentary is better out of all. We want a real wrestling game. Build new engine. Take a one year break and build new game then you will win back your regular fans Expand
