  • Summary: Unique fusion of a top-down shooter and tower-defense strategy. You are the invader. Use destructive weapons or lead you enemies into a maze of towers. Strategize in the build mode by carefully selecting various types of alien towers or throw yourself right into the heat of the battle.

While X-Morph: Defense may not reinvent its wheel, nearly every decision it makes is a smart and correct one, and this out-of-nowhere project with a dull-sounding title really hums. It’s fast and furious, yet this wonderfully-crafted tower defense/shmup hybrid does everything it can to be a welcoming, player-positive experience that doesn’t sacrifice the quality of its strategy or the intensity of moment-to-moment play. X-Morph: Defense might need to spend a little more on PR, but don’t let the lack of buzz disguise the fact that it is absolutely worth the of the price of admission.

X-Morph: Defense is one of the most impressive and addictive games that I've played all year. The blend of twin-stick shooting and tower defense is perfect for some intense gameplay and the fact that you can enjoy it with a pal is the icing on the cake.

X-Morph: Defense successfully mashes up the shoot ’em up and tower defence genres which is no mean feat. and the co-op mode is a really great addition and helps alleviate the repetitive nature of the tasks. There is at least fifteen hours of gameplay on the easiest difficulty level and as you are ranked at the end of each battle there’s a good reason to go back and try again. If you like tower defence and big explosions it’s well worth a look, especially if you have a friend to join the battle.

A great hybrid of a puzzle game and a shooter that comes with wonderful visuals and a couch co-op, but gets repetitive by the end and sometimes annoyed me with uneven difficulty level. [11/2017, p.66]

X-Morph: Defense is an interesting experiment, a hybrid formula that combines the tower defense genre with the past-paced action of twin-stick shooters. The gameplay is great, but there are still some annoying technical problems that need to be addressed as soon as possible, in order for the game to reach its full potential.

While a great game, a fix to this is in sincere need. The gameplay is great and shows the best sides of both genres, as it mixes together in a wonderful way that helps them enhance each other, while at the same time offering a more pure experience for the respective genres.

What a awesome game! Perfect blend of tower defence and twin stick shooter. How come such great titles go under the radar and boring crappy gameplay titles like Hellblade are praised to the high hevens is beyond me.
Game has some fresh and fun ideas - you need to manage your defences by raising turrets and destroying enemies yourself and gather parts of destroyed enemies which you cant do at the same time so you have to decide should you destroy opponents or collect resources to build more turrets.
You also have large skill tree to pick your abilities and other upgrades.
A/V is also awesome, the enviroment gets destroyed quite realistically.
    Overall - solid 10/10.

I played the demo and i loved it, so i bought it and i love it more, so i bought all dlcs and it worth every penny.

if you love tower defense genre, there is no doubt that you should buy this game.
you are an alien who invades the earth and must capture and build a base and resist all human attacks with many waves.
the unique thing here that you are a alien ship that you play as some kind of shooter and while the human attacks you can shoot to delay them or make their wave weaker but they are attacking in the other side, Boss fight is one of the best boss fight ever.

EXOR STUDIOS one of my favorite Indie studios from poland, you should try Zombie driver that i gave it 9/10.

I would say the twin stick element doesn't feel quite as refined as a dedicated twin stick shooter (e.g. Housemarque titles) but it fits well with the tower defence and really involves you in the game.
    Good effort.

Graphics are standard fare, but clean. Some good particle effects and chaotic moments make for some good eye candy, and there is minimal slow-down despite high enemy counts on certain missions.

The sound was probably the most impressive aspect, it was punchy and well voiced - explosions were loud and the whole game gave a very campy "Earth Defense Force" vibe. It worked incredibly well, and I liked playing as the invading force for a change.

The couch co-op is the real draw here. Not many in this category can do a decent job of making co-op fun and still challenging. This one absolutely does, and there are a good amount of missions to keep you playing.

I would say having some more customization options for the ship would be nice, as would developing the tower defense aspect a little more. I like how they handled the build mechanics especially in that it allows for on-the-fly building mid-battle without killing the intensity of the game.

Really did not expect the polish I got with this title, I'm eager to see an expansion on this idea, and the price point ($25) isn't terrible. Still, if you can snag it for less (I got the base game on a sale for $13), its absolutely worth it. 7/10
