    While the repetition and lack of content cooled my enthusiasm a bit, I am excited to see where DICE can take Battlefield 2042 from here — if current industry trends hold, I’m confident this will be a strong addition to my already-full shooter rotation after a few months of additions and updates.

    Battlefield 2042 feels like it could become a cool game, but it’s tantalizingly out of reach today. There’s enough promise with the satisfying-when-it-works gunplay, large-scale chaos (that’s starting to feel more controlled over time), and fantastic legacy Battlefield content in Portal that I’ll stick around for a bit. It didn’t have to be this way, though.

    Battlefield 2042 is disjointed and incomplete at launch, but it's impossible to deny it still has that magic spark that made past entries thrive. There aren't enough maps and one too many bugs and glitches get in the way of the fun. However, with the excellent Portal mode to bolster it, Battlefield 2042 does just enough to get us on board. While we wish so many things were better, nothing else does it quite like Battlefield.

    Battlefield 2042 is technically an unfinished game that just has dozens of problems on both visual and technical levels. It poses some questionable gameplay changes, some good, some bad, but it still presents itself as a dash of fresh air with great modes like Portal and Hazard Zone. Sadly, it has so many problems on mentioned levels, with really disappointing “bloom” during shooting, that it poses itself as a pretty bad experience overall and it is really hard to recommend to anyone until it gets patched or gets additional content in the future.

    Its a great game, i see it as an early release for a game thats supposed to be released next year and thinking like that makes me have alot of fun!!!

Hold on, I got more. Only having 7 maps on release & more than half of those maps are made for running simulator games, with no buildings to take cover behind. Everyone uses the same 3 specialists because they are the only “good” ones, there are Only 4 AR’s & 4 SMG’s lol what is this? a free to play game? everyone was using the same gun on release. Only 3 Secondaries, SMGs winning long range gun fights against ARs. Broken hit detection yet again, for like the 4th Battlefield game release in a row, it’s like Dice doesn’t care to learn from the mistakes. This is exactly what this game deserves & you have no one else to blame but yourself. Trying to turn this franchise into a Call Of Duty copy just to make your pockets happy & look where it got them. Lowest rating everywhere, lowest player-count after release of any BF game, nobody cares to watch it on Twitch & people who are forced to play it because they are sponsored by EA seem miserable. Portal is a shell of what it was advertised to be, Hazard Zone is hilariously bad. I am thankful for one thing tho & thats for helping me realize that pre-ordering a Battlefield game from now on is a huge mistake. Enjoy patching the game for a year until its close to playable, just like you did with BF4, BF1 & BFV.… Expand

It's so obvious that DICE chose to string battlefield fans along towards a cash grab, trend chasing, husk of a battlefield game.

    The game is not only unfinished, but it also wanders so far from the core structure of previous battlefield games. Is it innovation? No, it's laziness, incompetence, and greed.

    I've been playing every battlefield game since 1942. I will never preorder another one. I will never buy another one on release. Imagine this... Battlefield 2042 is so bad that it not only failed as a game, but destroyed the reputation of the entire franchise.

    If you love quality video games and you love battlefield, don't waste a penny on this product--out of respect for the games before if nothing else. I mean hey, both Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 have more players right now. That should tell you everything.    … Expand

This game is so far removed from battlefield it is a joke. I feel sorry for anyone who is experiencing this as their first battlefield. Where are all the guns for a start? BF3 had over 50 weapons. Each weapon felt unique and had strengths and weaknesses against others. Teamwork was a thing with classes that had a role on the battlefield. Maps were fantastic and buildings could be destroyed. Vehicles were balanced. Scoreboards and voice chat were a thing. It’s as if a completely new group of developers are making their first game here. The bugs are everywhere. The sound… holy … Bad company 2 sound was a masterpiece… this sound… absolute mess. I am shocked that anyone can give this game anything higher than a 1 (portal not included) It’s not Battlefield.… Expand
