Feb 22, 2021If you missed this game on the previous consoles, now is the perfect time to buy as it contains everything plus RTX and more importantly, it is a fantastic story that draws you in and drives you on. If you are a fan of The X-Files or similar genre shows, material… I have no doubt you will enjoy this. An exceptional job from the whole team!
Feb 1, 2021Control: Ultimate Edition is the definitive version of Remedy's adventure. Bringing together the worlds Remedy has created under one roof and looking stunning while doing so, Remedy has done a fantastic job of upgrading and improving the experience in meaningful, additive ways, such as the use of the DualSense controller and Ray-Tracing. There isn't a universe more worth exploring and losing yourself in than the one in Control.
Feb 2, 2021Control: Ultimate Edition on PlayStation 5 is a real treat. Gone are all the technical issues that plagued the game on the old generation of consoles: loading times are lightning fast, textures load instantly, and the game runs smooth as silk. Ray Tracing is also an impressive addition to what is already one of the best games of recent times.
CD-ActionOct 12, 2021My first experience with Control was underwhelming due to my base PS4 not being powerful enough to do this great game justice. Now I wish I waited for the next-gen version. The Ultimate Edition finally looks and runs as it should (however, if you want ray tracing, you’ll have to accept 30 FPS) and also offers two expansions that tie the story to Alan Wake. Jun 22, 2021Control is an amazing experience that is befitting of the next gen consoles. It has killer Ray Tracing features, unfortunately hampered by their implementation, and a rock solid performance mode which feels amazing. The truly twisted dystopian world of the FBC is one that will persist in player's memories for a long time with its strange otherworldly places, alongside its humanising story. Highly recommended to all PlayStation 5 owners looking for an action-adventure with some real depth and fun combat!
Feb 2, 2021On top of being a great game, with satisfying shooting mechanics and a universe that goes well beyond the main story, the next-gen version of Control Ultimate Edition is a visual showcase. It's a shame that early adopters of the original game can't benefit from this upgrade.
Feb 1, 2021Without being a graphical revolution, Control Ultimate Edition's Next Gen patch freshens up the game a bit and gives good reasons to discover Jesse's paranormal adventures on PS5 or Xbox Series. The quality of life and immersion improvements are welcome, but the focus should have been more on solving some of the original game technical problems.

Jun 29, 2021This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all, the elephant in the room. I bought this game on ps4 and it was unplayable. The publishers should be ashamed of themselves for charging extra for this updated version. Luckily I hadn't bought any DLC and the ultimate edition was on sale so it could have been a lot worse.
Control is a unique game, there is so much creativity that is shown in building this unique atmosphere with beautiful yet unsettling soundscapes, a very bizarre art direction that feels like you are playing a M.C. Escher painting, and a huge sense of scale in the world. All this makes Control a unique experience just to walk through it's world. The combat is often quite brilliant. You have so many options in your movement and especially in the final chapters that used to be added DLC in the original version you have a complete blast in overcoming quite challenging combat encounters.
The games difficulty is really uneven. On certain parts you die over and over (these parts are often the most fun because you need to turn your brain on) And on some parts you are completely overpowered and you have no way of losing a fight.
There are some flaws in this game however. The acting and writing is really inconsistent. The back and forth expository dialogue between Jesse and characters that have automated animation are not very well executed. The best way to ingest this dialogue is by just reading it and not looking at it. The weird thing is that you come across live action footage of a character on television screens that are executed really well. These parts are the best part of the story of control that really builds up this unique world where the normal rules of reality in our day to day world don't apply any more.
The last complaint I have about this game is that there are some encounters that are so oversaturated with the color red that you have no idea where your enemies are and where you are supposed to shoot. They really sacrificed playability for something that look astatically pleasing. I needed to turn easy mode on for these encounters because I just couldn't get through them because it was impossible for me to know what to do because of the lack of visual clarity.
Still, this game is such a unique experience with a strong sense of identity that I still highly recommend it. The amount of methods of movement are so much fun to toy around with and now that the game is playable on 60 fps this is the version of control that is actually worth it.… Expand
