    Hell Let Loose is one of the best WWII shooters, certainly not suitable for everyone due to his hardcore gameplay but still rewarding if played with the right collaborative spirit.

    Caveats noted, playing Hell Let Loose with a decent squad of players willing to communicate, a competent commander, and skills sufficient to the moment is a unique, exciting, and extremely rewarding first-person shooter experience, ultimately much more satisfying than the arcade shooters to which most players are accustomed. Getting to the point of real comfort with the game’s mechanics, interface and team systems takes a commitment of time and the willingness to learn from others and the game’s written material, and is definitely not for everyone. Hell Let Loose does a great job of reminding us how important teamwork, communication, and reliance on others can be, not just in war but maybe in the broader context of our lives.

    Hell Let Loose could become a real hit amongst those looking for a bit more of a grounded experience than Call of Duty or Battlefield. However, the experience will rely heavily on the community engaging with each other positively to put plans together and make the experience authentic. Hell Let Loose is a game about teamwork and without it the chaos of war will overwhelm a player.

    The experience of playing Hell Let Loose is largely dependent on the player. People new to the genre, especially those playing solo, may be inclined to abandon the game entirely after just a few hours, and I wouldn’t blame them. But Milsim veterans, and players who stick around long enough to learn the ropes and find a squad, will find a deep and rewarding experience in this WWI shooter.

    The premise (a WW2 FPS with an interest in realism and a limited HUD) is sound. But snipers have an unreasonable advantage over every other unit, and while communication is important to the experience, there’s no decent alternative to voice chat (which almost nobody uses). For a large-scale WW2 shooter, try Enlisted instead – it’s more fun and is free to play. [Issue#8, p.97]

    Fantastic game but does have a learning curve. Can’t Rambo across maps like COD nor do you get constantly sniped like Battlefield. WorkingFantastic game but does have a learning curve. Working together as a squad and as a whole team determined who wins matches not just KD which is a refreshing change to the FPS genre. Watch out, this is hardcore mode so 1-2 bullets will drop you.     This is brutally realistic looking game in a similar vein to Battlefield 5 but at a much slower pace. If requires you to work together, not only at a squad level but at platoon/company level too using both Squad chat and proximity chat (also command chat if you are the squad leader so you can talk to the commander and other squad leaders etc).

    The gameplay feels realistic in terms of there being bouts of intensive firefights dispersed with times when you are moving to a location, which can take some time unless a friendly driver stops to pick you up. ;) This change in pace between the firefights just helps to increase the tension until suddenly you hear a crack of gun fire and rounds start whistling past your head as your vision goes blurry.

    If you're after a quick fix of fast paced mayhem (thinking COD/Battlefield) this game might seem a little too slow paced for you. If, however, you're looking for a realistic feeling, team based tactical experience then this could very well be the game you've been waiting for.

    The game also fully utilises the PS5's haptic feedback so you get some good resistance as you're lining up on your enemy and gently squeezing the trigger. Also, you can 'feel' the ground below you as you crawl on your belly. The sounds are great, the graphics are awesome. I'm loving it!    … Expand

    Hell let loose is a top notch game. Sure there are bug's and server issues but i'm sure black matter will iron those out in no time.
    And if you are thinking of downloading and start playing this game....please read the field manual in the menu and watch a few youtube videos before you go online. This is nothing like the arcade shooter battlefield. Not even close.    … Expand

I can somewhat respect the devs dedication to such a hardcore and "realistic" shooter but that doesn't mean I can find it fun. Also the tutorials are just dreadful. Literal text documents where you sit and read paragraphs of writing to understand how the game works. When you have an in depth game like this a good tutorial is a must to avoid frustration and this completely fails at that.… Expand
