Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl may be basic on the surface, but the exhilarating gameplay and edge of your seat action more than makes up for its lack of content by providing players with a fun platform fighter that rewards those who take the time to learn its surprisingly complex combat mechanics. I just wish online multiplayer was more active (come find me online and let’s fight! I main CatDog).

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is riddled with flaws. Not very pretty, not always very precise, a little sparse in content, the dubbing of the original cartoons are absent ... However, the fighting game of Fair Play Labs exudes passion. We don't recommend it to everyone, as NASB is targeting a very specific niche. By mimicking the physics of Super Smash Bros. Melee and implementing one of its advanced techniques, this atypical brawler manages to seduce those nostalgic for the early 2000s. Those will see it as a good way to immerse themselves in the licenses of their childhood while by rediscovering familiar sensations and a solid competitive environment. Hopefully the studio's follow-up will be good, as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is holding something.

Ultimately, the success of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl lies in how lively its online community is. We’ve found players easily enough so far, but who knows if they’ll stick around. It’ll be a shame if they don’t though, because this is a competent brawler. Its pleasant visuals, varied roster of beloved characters and surprisingly deep combat make it one of the better Smash-type games out there. But if there’s nobody online to play with, its offline content will quickly lose its fun.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl offers surprisingly competent Smash-like brawler gameplay, but is severely lacking in the bells-and-whistles department. Brawling fans will likely have a great time with this one, but those looking to ease into the genre should look elsewhere.

Although I was impressed by how solid its gameplay is, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl still feels like a hollow experience that could have been elevated to new heights if it featured additional modes and a more fleshed-out presentation complete with voice acting.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a great Smash clone that painfully underutilizes its Nickelodeon license, to its own detriment. Lacking some of Nick’s biggest characters, franchises, and environments, absolutely no voice lines whatsoever, and all wrapped up in a rather unimpressive package, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a good concept, and one of the best Smash-alikes to come along in the last 20 years. But it really needs a stronger presentation and more thorough use of its namesake license to earn a better foothold as a mainstay character brawler.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is the most disappointing kind of game as it’s one that offers so much promise and then fails to deliver on it, even when it comes to the most obvious, low-hanging fruit.

This is one of those games that have great potential to be one of the greats. A lot of people are hating due to the voice acting and other small details, but this has been confirmed by the devs to be fixed in the future, not to mention the devs are really listening to the community right now. I guarantee you in 6months, this game will be something totally different. The main important thing is they have the combat on point and the online has rollback. Expand

The lack of voice acting doesn’t bother me as much as others have stated, but battles can feel a bit empty without it sometimes. Regardless this is clearly a passion project for Ludosity considering their past experience, and they should be proud of their work here. I’m so, so grateful that it exists. Expand

Sadly it's main draw for people is the joy found in the nostalgia of the characters and shows, something that is completely missing from the game. No voices lines and no original music from the shows just means this game feels flat and dull. And let's be honest the game play itself is fairly mediocre, not enough moves and a limited character lineup make it fairly standard as a game, the inclusion of decent sound design would have easily hidden its flaws quite well. and we all know the developers will try and sell you the multitude of missing characters as DLC at a later date.Unfortunately for them selling more mute characters to add to the lineup will be very difficult at this point. The developers obviously have a choice to make. either sort out the appropriate licensing for voices and music (something that should have been at the top of the list from the start) which will make adding maps and characters as paid DLC far more lucrative. Or, leave the game as it is and watch it fade into obscurity like so many other games before it. Expand

When I was a little kid I watched My Life as a Teenage Robot for the first time, and just seeing the robotic beauty of that prime exemplar made me go absolutely crazy, like literally I still have to go to the Schizophrenia Warden twice a week. So anyways add XJ9 and I MIGHT give you a 3/10, for now only a 1 and only thanks to Toph.

Biggest waste of money I have ever spent. 0 updates that help the game. No voice acting so it feels incredibly dead.

The lack of voice acting makes the game feel like a Super Smash Bros game with Nickelodeon mods. They could have at least used some voices from old episodes of Nickelodeon shows, but the developers were too greedy for that. Despite the lack of voice acting, there are only 20 characters. The greedy developers probably have popular characters like Jimmy Neutron locked behind a future DLC paywall.

The graphics are garbage. The animations are pathetic. The soundtrack is beyond horrible. The stages are poorly designed. The physics are trash. The combat in this game is boring and repetitive. When I pay $50, I expect a combat system with depth and detail. All the developers did in this game is put pretty colorful lights during every move, to give players the illusion that the game is fun. None of that is fun for me. There isn't even a story mode. The developers were too cheap and lazy to develop one.

There is multiplayer and offline couch play. I appreciate that but this doesn't change the trash quality of this game. I expect better quality at $50. Spongebob has a cringeworthy face on the cover of this game. This made me remove the cover paper off the game case and rip it into pieces. I don't recommend this game at all.
