    Raises the bar for what a good remake is and at the same time, preserves Resident Evil 4's legacy as a genre-defining experience and one of the greatest games of all time.

    I had the time of my life throughout my 20 hour Hardcore playthrough and immediately started up a New Game+ run on Professional mode to see how well I could put all the lessons I learned throughout the game to the test. It has exceeded my high expectations across the board, and it represents Capcom’s best-ever work on the series. Normally I'd still find time to nitpick some minor annoyance or under baked section, but I just don't think games get much better than this.

    Resident Evil 4 Remake offers players the chance to rediscover the game without the haze of nostalgia. Even if you are familiar with every detail of the original Resident Evil 4, the remake offers a continuous stream of enjoyment. It is the epitome of the perfect game remake.

    Ultimately, this is pretty much everything you’d expect of a modern day remake of Resident Evil 4. The story has been renewed to tie it into the other games in the series with more panache, and the gameplay has been updated. It doesn’t feel as revolutionary as the original did way back in 2005, but that’s to be expected. And while we sometimes felt frustrated after taking a health bar-demolishing attack with little sense of how we should have avoided it, it just made us keen to play through the game again to get better. And that speaks of the game’s quality: warts and all, once you step into the boots of Leon Kennedy, there’s not much else that delivers the same thrills.

    What Capcom has done with this remake is marvelous: this new Resident Evil 4 is cleaned from all the flaws connected to the old age of the original game with the addition of a bunch of hours of new content keeping the quality at its maximum. You have to play this remake also if you're not a fan of the series.

    This is most obvious GOTY of all time! As a Remake, it's amazing. As a standalone modern video game, it's amazing. It's fun, it's scary, itThis is most obvious GOTY of all time! As a Remake, it's amazing. As a standalone modern video game, it's amazing. It's fun, it's scary, it has action, it has horror. It's not just copy+paste "new graphics on old game", nope. This is, in many ways, expanded and updated version of RE4. I would say, 99% of the new addions and changes are absolutely welcomed and well done. Graphically it literally looks like "next-gen". Rain/storm looks great and makes it obvious that pre-release footage was just some "beta" stages.

    Obviously no game is perfect, i could always complain about something, anything (that goes for any game btw). But i almost don't want to, it's just as close to perfection as modern remake could be. Dead Space Remake was solid, very good. But this one is next level compared to that one.

    To bring out some negatives, as a die hard RE4 fan, i was obviously disappointed that U-3 was cut. U-3 had very interesting design and fight was fun and scary and would have worked perfectly in this new remake. I'm not really sure why the cut it, but i'm hopeful that maybe they are holding it for dlc.

    BUT that didn't break the game for me at all, everything else was great, most boss fights were amazing and expanded content helped as well. Atmosphere was absolutely flawless on all three locations (village,castle,island). Voice acting (for the most part) was great. My biggest surprise was Ashley, she was perfect! I was never huge Ashley fan, in the original she was extremely annoying, but in the remake she almost felt like new character (in a good way). Leon's voice acting was solid, as expected. Overall script/dialogue was also nice, i especially liked moments between Leon and Ashley.

    At the end of the day, i don't even care if it wins any awards, all i can say is, that it's very good game and that's the most important thing. But when development team puts so much passion into a project like this, i think it should be rewarded.

    I just finished RE 4 remake and i can say that this game did what RE2 remake did but better. I was a bit spectic when the critics all gave it a 10, but now i get it. What made Resident evil 4 such a success was its story, its inovation and its step from going from a horror came to an action horror game similair to Last of Us, not only did this remake respect all of it but it turned its modern twist on it and it works. Im positive this is a strong strong strong contender for GOTY.    … Expand
