    Save some money and watch a walk through YouTube.

    Didn't like the ending much. That stuff should have been put in a behind the scenes feature or a diary.

    I was happy to see Monkey Island returning to the stage. The vibes from old times are still there and the new graphics might seem a bit strange at first but I feel that they are working out pretty well and the engine in general looks very good. Overall the game runs stable, no bugs, no issues on my playthrough.

    When it comes to the game itself I loved how old characters were included and the general story isnt bad but it is not revolutionary too. Some puzzles I feel are very mediocre, I played on hard mode and found it pretty easy in general. I stumbled two times were I thought that the solution wasnt obvious at all. The playtime is around 8-10hrs I would say but there is also a lot of back and forth backtracking which I found a bit bothersome. The speedrun trophy with being under 2hrs says quite a bit about the game length still for the price tag it feels fitting.

    Why is it not a 10? - The controls are in general very good but some action points are bothersome and I missclicked multiple times. The game doesnt do anything too revolutionary, it is "just more of the game good stuff". I was quite disappointed with the ending I must say - I felt it was pretty stupid and lackluster. I would give the game a score of 8.5 but considering between 8 and 9 I think the 8 is very solid and more fitting. If you liked the older games or point&click games in general you will most likely love this iteration of the Monkey Island series.    … Expand

    The return is mostly triumphant, as it feels like the series has never been away. Even more fun than a rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle. [Issue#22, p.78]

    Like the older but wiser cast of characters, the puzzling gameplay has matured, taxing your wits, but not your patience, never leaving you so bogged down with frustration that you can’t enjoy the comedy. Some gaming franchises age like milk, some age like wine, but Return to Monkey Island has aged like the finest bottle o’ rum.
