Square Enix's "Tactics Ogre: Reborn" has turned out really well as a new edition. The storyline and the fights are fun from the first second on. Really loved this series and glad Square Enix port the PSP version. Lot of the class system is reworked and it really make the game less grindy. You can also still use the auto function, really helpful when you're entering the training mode. Square Enix has a questionable record with remasters, but knocked it out of the park with this.

Menus could use some improvement, but other than that it plays great I don't understand why some have an issue with the price part considering the voice acting, rerecorded score, and general gameplay polishing over the prior version. This is not a simple port, obviously the team who

And unlike some other 'great for their time' classics, Tactics Ogre holds up to its contemporaries today

Although this game has minor improvements to a version released 27 years ago, it maintains its high story quality and excellent gameplay, perhaps the best 2D game this year

I loved the original, but One Vision on PSP is much superior. Unfortunately, this port draws from both without quite capturing the magic of either. Sure, there is a better AI, decent voice acting, cleaned up (but not redone) graphics... but it just doesn't add up to much relative to One Vision. Still, Tactics Ogre is one of the best rpgs ever made and even this somewhat inferior port is extremely fun. If you can't get access to the PSP version then this will still capture the old nostalgic magic, if not quite all the fun. Expand

50 bucks for another port of the awkwardly-named TO:Let Us Cling Together? Hard pass.

Good game. Bad price point. Don't fall for yet another Squenix cash grab. Wait for a sale or use an emulator.

This game has nothing new. It's just a re-release in 4K... A big waste of time and money.

I’d say game is unfinished. Design decisions (this game specifically) that reduce or remove fun. The last boss must not have been beta tested as it’s neigh impossible. I’m a veteran to the genre and I found I had little fun the whole way fun, and quit the final boss after 5 tries. Top level, best gear I could make, full items, min maxed team. Starting to wonder looking at all the recent square games what the literal **** is happening at HQ.

Avoid this game if you value your time and sanity, it really is that bad.

One of my all time favorite games remastered. And they did one of the best jobs I've ever seen. This is not a simple port by any stretch of the imagination. I have no issue with the price as they did a lot of work to the game, and honestly its almost a whole new experience. I would love to see them do the same with Final Fantasy tactics.

I never played this franchise so I can't really say how it holds up to the previous versions of the game. I do know that this is an old game that's been remastered before, and now it's remastered again!

This is a TRPG, and I've been liking these type of games, along with CRPGs. I do like that it's not really a JRPG as those are generally not serious/too much dialogue, but rather goes for a medieval style which is quite cool. You don't really get a lot of games that have that setting and also are a TRPG. I like that it has a very deep story and explores a lot of themes, but easy enough to follow and understand what's going on. That's amazing since there's a LOT of characters, a lot of games fall into that trap where there's way too many characters and it just gets confusing who's who or why should we care, etc.

You can get a lot of hours out of this game, and I think the game does deliver for what it is, an updated remaster with some additional features mainly voice acting. I think the voice acting is solid for the most part, and the writing is solid

I do think there are a few flaws, mainly that some of the boss fights are really difficult as they get better positioning and have a few clerics, so it really draws out some of the battle length. Also, some of those boss fights can be just unfair and took me several tries before reading up on some strategies. Some of the fights can be lame though as you can just rush the boss for example if they are like a mage/sorcerer they can be easily won against, thus not as challenging battle then. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the level cap per sections, yet the enemies can be a few levels above yours. I think they could of done away with it and thus made that the easy mode for those who need to level up to win, as there's no difficulty levels in this game.

If you put the time and effort, it's a great game, but the difficulty may be too much for some.

Tactics ogre is such a great game. I would gladly pay full price for this game every time they update it or port it. It’s just that good. If you’re a fan of the genre then I highly advise getting it.

And to all you guys giving it low scores, you are **** idiots.

Overall, Tactics Ogre: Reborn is a fantastic game! As a fan that has played all three it’s hard to say which version I like best. I like the system changes made in Tactics Ogre: Reborn, simplifying removing skill points from the game and entirely relying on magic points in fights makes a lot more sense. The biggest problem with this version is removing random encounters from the game. While I understand the choice, they could have just added the level cap and possibly kept random encounters — which is something I enjoyed doing in other tactical RPGs such as Final Fantasy Tactics. Overall, I really enjoyed my time in Tactics Ogre: Reborn and look forward to many more hours with the game.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn really set the gears in motion for a genre. Since the first launch of this game in 1995, a lot has changed and this title has been staunch in both keeping to its roots and also making some needed changes to modernise the game.

For the most part, Tactic Ogre: Reborn is a good game. Heck, it's a great game. But my run took me headfirst into what feels like the cheapest and most unfair change of mechanics that I can remember in my entire personal gaming history. The entire playing experience was spoiled as a result. With the review finished, I am now deleting this game from my hard drive and never returning. I feel betrayed by a terrible design choice and look at the dozens of hours to get to this point as a waste of my time.
