A wonderfully exhausting exercise in futility is probably the best way of describing The Callisto Protocol as no matter the strength of my own resolve, I was constantly on edge and reveling in those fleeting moments where the game allowed me to breathe following yet another life-threatening fight. The constant fear and dread incited by the phenomenal visual and sound design are only complemented by the compelling story. The Callisto Protocol is, hopefully, the start of an exciting new franchise, and is another sign that survival horror is anything but dead.

The Callisto Protocol is a game that any survival horror fan should try. It is also a sample of what the new consoles can achieve. Both graphically and in a matter of immersion. With an exciting story and beautiful settings.

The Callisto Protocol is not a groundbreaking experience or the best horror game ever, but it’s a pretty good one. The amazing visuals, great cast, perfect settings and intense combat make it one of the most enjoyable adventures of 2022 - although it’s quite short (and sometimes glitchy).

The Callisto Protocol immerses you in its world full of horror and gore to the bone combined with that wonderful photo-realism of the characters and environment. The gameplay is a pure Dead Space feeling but clunky. It has the features of a survival game but it still has a lot to implement. The game is more like a Josh Duhamel simulator.

The Callisto Protocol is a satisfyingly gory spiritual successor to the Dead Space series, but it’s ultimately more of a striking modern mimic than a scary new mutation.

The Callisto Protocol prevails at setting the mood and making you feel like you are part of the action, but it comes up short when delivering an experience that keeps your attention longer than the initial jump scare.

The Callisto Protocol isn’t scary. It isn’t fun. It isn’t entertaining, fascinating, or mildly enriching. It lays a self-entitled claim to Dead Space’s stylistic and mechanical elements yet wields not a single one with grace, instead performing a crude pantomime. It’s mechanically unpleasant, bereft of a single original idea, and hostile to its own players. There's literally one jumpscare tactic reused at a rate best described as pathological. It's got some damn nerve wanting to be seen as a worthy successor - it can't even rival the weakest of pretenders.

Had to leave this review after finishing the game on ps5 to show support. PLEASE at least try this game. The critics were a little too harshHad to leave this review after finishing the game on ps5 to show support. PLEASE at least try this game. The critics were a little too harsh on this thing and I guess it due to only playing an hour or so with thinking this was going to be dead space 4 or something because I thoroughly enjoyed the game in all aspects and thought it was well written and combat is a ton of fun once you get the hang of it. The upgrades actually feel usefull and definitely get more powerful as the game goes on rather than some other games with massive upgrade trees that rarely have any affect and is just used as a filler so to say this one actually makes a difference. I highly suggest this title to any horror fan you won't be disappointed if you actually go in blind from the hate reviews and create your own observations and experience. PLAY THIS GAME FOLKS! Expand

I was really excited for this game because I love survival horror and original dead space it’s inspired from is a favourite however II was really excited for this game because I love survival horror and original dead space it’s inspired from is a favourite however I unfortunately just found it disappointing.

The story is pretty basic and uninteresting. The combat mechanics were interesting to learn but quickly becomes repetitive and boring once you get the hang of it.

Visuals do look great but the enemies as well felt quite dull and also boring after a while. The real time mutation aspect of them sounds really exiting but in reality it’s the same enemy you’re fighting over and over. More visual diversity even would have helped.

After playing once there’s no incentive to want to play it again.

Super disappointed was looking forward to this. It’s not scary at all. It’s not a horror survival game either, it’s more a 3 person shooterSuper disappointed was looking forward to this. It’s not scary at all. It’s not a horror survival game either, it’s more a 3 person shooter you constantly get items and ammo it’s so boring. And enemies predictably jump out at you constantly. You never feel tension or feel uneasy, alien isolation did this perfectly. And what made that game scary was you didn’t fight a lot of enemies but you hid and heard the enemy but it’s not scary anymore after killing the 100th enemy like in this awful game with these bad fighting mechanics. Same jump scares over and over and this ballsack thing with long neck getting you over and over with same animation. And the Walmart version of clickers are a joke you can even bump into them and silent kill them all as long as you stay crouched this is beyond broken and not scary at all, this game is a joke. Gameplay is clunky and stiff and repetitive. And the HDR is a broken washed out mess which is not the best for a “horror”game if you want to make it scary when blacks are grey even on an Oled. Characters are bland and writing is bad. Story is bad too. Only reason this pos would deserve 1 point would be because of graphics that’s it. This Game - HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Not worth $70 Expand
