A complete mess. Many game breaking bugs that require you to restart the game. A lot of slow crawling and climbing in an attempt to make the playtime longer. The story itself is really boring and predictable, and many things remain unanswered. I’ve played the entire dark pictures series and can say that this one is the worst of them all.

i swear these games are getting worse and worse. writing, facial animations and graphics depth of field - all jarringly bad. voices - mediocre. art direction - not bad.

Surprise surprise, another broken mess from supermassive. The same old janky controls and overuse of QTEs that don't even work properly and their now signature, terrifying and weird facial animations that seem to get worse with each game despite thousands of players and reviewers pointing out the blank stares, crossed eyes and gurning. Supermassive needs to spend more time making a one good quality game that is a worthy successor to the brilliant Until Dawn, rather than rushing all these mediocre to poor games. Expand

The Devil In Me is probably one of the worse games in the Dark Pictures Anthology, from the introduction of the main characters, to the very first death scene, the structure just falls completely flat.
Never in a DPA game have I been so underwhelmed and uninterested in a single character that I even feel compelled to at least save a single person.

Never in a DPA game have I been so underwhelmed and uninterested in a single character that I even feel compelled to at least save a single person.

The Story is as bland as the characters, and the voice acting is so, so bad.... I didn't think it was possible for the VA to get worse in a Supermassive Games project, but low and behold they managed to find a group of uninspired voice actors along with directors and writers less uninspired.

I normally long for the goofy "doesn't take itself too serious" Supermassive Games titles in the Dark Pictures Anthology such as Man of Medan, Little Hope and House of Ashes all which I enjoyed playfully.... Even The Quarry with it's goofy dialogue and bad voice acting had a bit of "so bad, it's good" charm to it.

I'm currently about 3 hours into the game and literally from the first hour, every time I pick it up I find myself thinking about putting it back down again almost 5 minutes later.

A movie with pre-set angles and minimal gameplay turned out to be so broken and buggy on the PS5 that you can go nuts!
Thanks for the localization, for this pr balls

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another **** game from supermassive, who would've thought that rushing games doesn't deliver success. But anyways, to the points.
    Good things:
-The idea of moving walls is great, but you aren't actually in control of anything so the concept isn't played out really. Seeing that in cutscenes only doesn't really add anything to the feeling, game still feels the same as there weren't any moving walls and you were just running along the same hallways.
    Bad things:
-Character models are awful, even worse than in The Quarry, bad lipsync, neck just turns 180 degrees, terrible animations, etc.
    -Breathing mechanic, it's so cheap
-Lack of gameplay. Walking the only way there is isn't really gameplay, but that's the most you'll get. A couple random boxes you can move around to reach one place, again not really gameplay. Tried to implement the puzzles, but if they were made for 5 year olds. Up to 5 times per game you'll get a control your character while crossing something on a log or plank, 25 times you'll climb some object and you'll just pickup random items revealing you the story, to which I'll get later. Oh and the leaning mechanic, which you'll encounter like 10 times per game. Other than that just walking and doing pointless QTEs.
-QTEs. As an example, an episode where Jamie and Charlie are in a room with an animatronic in yellow suit and with head covered, when Charlie unknowingly steps on the pressure plate, he's approached by the killer with a knife and you are given 2 options: stay on the plate or step back. If you stay on the plate the killer cuts your nostril with the knife and as a result Charlie screams and steps away from the plate. And then the cutscene plays and his nostril isn't cut and stays normal for the rest of the game. Literally the same would happen if I chose the option of stepping back, they even use 1 cutscene for either choice because this choice in particular doesn't matter. Given the fact this game is so bad I haven't replayed it to check other choices, but it should be pretty obvious that they didn't put much effort into them. As another prime example is Erin's death in the dark room. I was shown the premonition of her dying in that room, so when killer showed up I chose to stab him, but of course the character stabs into the shoulder and eventually I die. Hmm, surely if I choose to take the inhaler from his hands he won't kill me.
    -Writing
-Dialogues are so cringe, like they were written by 12 year olds for 12 year olds. All while all the
    characters look adult.
-The title of the game says "The devli in me", but the only time the devil is mentioned is in the very
beginning of the game, in the intro to the whole story. Might've called it the murder house or
offbrand Saw, because devil is nowhere to be seen.
-The story. Never got to understand it fully, the game leaves so many questions unanswered, am I
really supposed to understand the whole ****show only from random pictures in the hallways and
a couple of random audio biographies or whatever they are. Is the killer Agent Munday or
Du'Met? I don't know. Game constantly points to Agent Munday, even showing FBI uniform and
badge in the basement somewhere, but the characters only talk about Du'Met. So many
    questions, yet no answers.
-Killer. Is he superhero or what? How can he just teleport from 1 character to another and survive
everything? But the most bizarre thing is in the last scene, assuming there is only one good
ending and the only difference is how many people survived. I am escaping on a boat going solid
30 kmph on water, and this prick just jumps out of water with an axe and starts his usual killing. Is
this Friday 13th ripoff? Very much looks like it. Has dead mother sitting with audio tapes replaying
some lines, invencible, wears mask, walks exactly the same way. So **** lame.
The game really goes downhill as you progress through the story. Starts off solid in the prologue, and ends up as a ****ty indie ripoff with no story integrity, no character likeability and no logical explanations to anything.

When I myself was playing the game most of the time I was like shocked by what in the actual **** just happened, the devs can't be serious, this is so bad. However that's an amazing game to watch somebody play it, because then it's not you who have spent 40 euros on this **** and not you who have to play that **** Laughed my ass off watching the game on stream, was dissapointed playing it myself. Solid 0/10 game, following The Quarry steps as I see.

Unplayable. There are so many glitches. Visual glitches. Gameplay glitches. It broke so hard that we couldn't progress the game any further. The screen just does black. I'm completely disappointed.

I've been defending most of these games for years but this game is egregiously bad and a complete waste of time. There are no redeeming qualities, bad acting, characters, pacing, gameplay, story. Just everything is bottom of the barrel and a waste of time and money.

This is the worst game I've ever played. Absolutely everything is bad in it. Heroes die accidentally and there is no logic in the actions of the heroes and the consequences after the decisions made

The Devil in Me gives us more of the compilation's typical gameplay. However, its visual aspect feels neglected, and its story takes several hours to start.

While there’s not enough here to convince QTE sceptics, there’s life in it yet thanks to a cast you’ll want to root for and some welcome gameplay additions. [Issue#22, p.82]
