As a mediumBecome a medium living in two different worlds: the real one and the spirit one. Haunted by the vision of a child's murder, you travel to an abandoned hotel resort, which many years ago became the stage of an unthinkable tragedy. There you begin your search for difficult answers. As a medium with access to both worlds, you have a wider perspective and can see more clearly that there's no one simple truth to what others perceive. Nothing is what it seems, everything has another side.

The Medium features a "dual" soundtrack by Bloober Team's Arkadiusz Reikowski and legendary composer Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame.

The Medium on PS5 is as good as it was on Xbox Series X, however, with DualSense support it becomes a much more immersive game.

The Medium on PS5 is pretty much as good as it was on Xbox Series X, despite some graphic flaws and loading issues. Luckily, the DualSense features manage to fill the gap.

Bloober Team meshes all of these elements together to draw players further into The Medium's world than the Xbox/PC versions were capable of, elevating an already enjoyable experience to new heights. It stands to reason that the PS5 version of The Medium is the ideal way to experience Marianne's dual-reality adventures, and PlayStation 5 owners that enjoy horror games should definitely check the game out.

This is the same experience that we know, now with a correct implementation of the DualSense that doesn’t really add anything too exciting.

The way that The Medium brings trauma to life in various ways is awe-inspiring. At the same time, it's not all that good of a video game.

This edition of The Medium is suitable for those who have not had, in the past, the chance of recovering the title in the Microsoft or PC ecosystem. This is perhaps not the best of the ports, but the new features related to DualSense and the generic good quality of the product can fully justify the purchase.

The Medium shines when it’s letting you soak in its beautifully crafted dual worlds and melancholic soundtrack, but early promise of a quietly effective ghost story unravels as the story staggers clumsily to a point where it becomes almost unbearable in its attempt to tackle a tough subject.

I expected a good game around 7/10, but it's so much better than I expected. Bloober Team gets better with each game, minus the slight misstep with Blair Witch, which was still good but not great. Layers if Fear was very good. Observer is great and massively underrated, especially the System Redux version for PS5. The story here is top notch. It will come off like a walking simulator in a lot of aspects, but if you allow yourself to be absorbed by the game and it's story, there is far more to it than meets the eye. I really can't express how impressed I am with what they gave us here. It is a game that is part of various genres from Horror, Mystery, Suspense, Supernatural, Drama, and a dash of action at the right times. I'm not sure if I've ever played a game that felt more perfect to end up as a movie on the big screen. In fact, it feels like a movie script that was handed to a video game developer to work with. It's just so consuming as a story where you get that same page Turner feeling as reading a novel and constantly wanting to know what happens next.
You feel, as the protagonist, equal parts Medium and Detective...and the Horror feels very reminiscent in many ways of the movie "Jeepers Creepers" and most definitely is creepy and creates extremely intense moments of horror in a VERY Disturbing sense.
I'm giving it a rating of 9...but more realistically, if I could be as accurate as I wanted, I'd say it deserves (in my personal opinion), a 9.4 out of 10. And no, I don't easily give scores this high. I currently own 69 pS5 games and this is one of a handful that tops a 9/10. Again, this is my personal thoughts and opinion, as I figure most gamers will see it along the lines of its current Metacritic score. Horror, also, is my favorite genre. I'll add that, outside of Resident Evil Village, The Medium is possibly my favorite game of 2021 to this point. (Not counting Ghosts of Tsushima Directors Cut since it technically came out last year.)

The game is very slow and boring but I kept playing in order to watch the story unfold. Ultimately I was disappointed since I kept playing for something I never reached. I basically agree with all of the other bad reviews: character is super slow, game randomly decides when you can and can't run, "puzzles" aren't even really puzzles because they are so easy until maybe a couple at the very end, voice acting is pretty terrible, frame rate is too low and is jerky at times and you can see the screen tearing, camera angles and character control are atrocious and old-school, etc. I rented the game but I would have been disappointed had I actually paid money for this. It definitely got the eerie tone a game such as this needs but never lives up to the old classics. The pacing suffers a lot from time to time and the mechanics can feel clunky and just game breaking/disruptive. It can be frustratingly difficult to keep playing when a death feels as cheap as it does in the medium. For a PS5 release the loading times is atrocious and really makes you not miss last gen. Also not having the option to turn off/toggle the sound coming out of the dualsense is a poorly made decision by the developers. The game has its moments when it truly shines, but they’re few and far between Expand

Must be the most stupid game I've ever seen. Only gave it a chance because they gave it away for free on PS plus extra, well like most gamesMust be the most stupid game I've ever seen. Only gave it a chance because they gave it away for free on PS plus extra, well like most games on the PS plus extra now it's clearer why they gave it away for free. Although even for free I couldn't play through the first hour of this idiotic game. If you're into poor game design, poor voice acting and pathetic character design, a boring story that doesn't go anywhere and cling into the smallest most pedantic details just to over inflate the crap they force into your head then this is the game for you. How can anyone give this a high rating is beyond me. Maybe if the developers used that same money they've spent to have people lie here on the user reviews for development rather than propoganda and hired anyone with any talent it could've been a mediocre game, but it's stupid and boring, complete snoozefest and pretty embarrassing to witness Expand
