Doki-Doki Universe offers an incomparable experience that takes full advantage of every feature the Vita has to offer, and it does so in a way that never feels gimmicky or stupid. That's an impressive accomplishment, and it makes it easy to say the game is well worth your time and money.

Innocent and whimsical, Doki-Doki Universe was made for your inner child. The adorable cast, the kid-like doodles, the heartfelt stories and its unabashed fondness of the off-kilter might make it a bit too twee for some but for those who want a change of pace from hard-hitting action games, Doki-Doki Universe works. Just be advised that it isn't the most technically perfect game in the PS Vita's stable.

Doki-Doki Universe is a feel-good video game. It isn't going to challenge you, and there are some technical issues, but it'll still give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

Doki-Doki Universe is not easy to judge. Although there are more shortcomings to it than you would like and it grates too fast on the same quirks, it's still a sweet and interesting satire of our society which feels a bit out of place as a videogame.

This is a game that seeks to find the good in you, so why not return the favour? [Feb 2014, p.93]

Doki-Doki Universe is an interesting and charming game; its only problem is its gameplay... Very repetitive, it offers no challenge at all.

Conceptually it should be applauded for, on paper at least, offering something that little bit different. In delivery it’s far too often flat with a side of boredom and backfire.

I like the game. but honestly it's not worth the money. If you got it for free it is a thing that you can play to pass time. But definitelyI like the game. but honestly it's not worth the money. No real challenge. I like the simple funny art and the silly conversations. It was a good play before bed time on my bed :)
The game keeps crashing for time to time on PS Vita. I didn't play it yet on PS4 but I might give it a try.

Maybe it sounds a bit harsh, because the concept is actually not so bad and the effort to create something original for kids to play and learn about humanity in cute funny way is certainly here, that's why I'm giving it a few points, but unfortunately the execution and production is really bad. The artistic values here, be it visuals, music, or voice acting are terrible. Fun from the gameplay is non-existent thanks to the clunky engine and no way to fail, if you cannot fail, you don't have to put any effort, you will just get bored eventually, especially since the gameplay mechanics are so repetitive. However, the final nail in the coffin and what really killed this game for me are the bugs. This game is extremely poorly coded, in average at least 2 crashes on each planet, during my cca 5 hours playthrough it took me to finish this game I got about 50 crashes and it should be noted that this is actually the only game I ever encountered that was causing my PS Vita to crash like this and since I heard similar or even worse reports from other platforms, it's obviously incompetence on the dev side. Being forced to constantly restart and redo all the boring stuff you already did is not fun. Poor kids who will try to play this. I can't believe this is actually a commercially sold product, many free indie titles are so much better than this in every way, fortunately I got this free on PS Plus, but that's where it belongs, devs should fix the bugs and publisher should stop selling this for money and make it a freebie. 2/10 Expand
