In Element4l, you control the state of your character to find your way through a dreamy underworld. Your only hindrances are nature and the sun. It takes a different, experimental approach to classic platform games and challenges you to rearrange your reflexes. The state-changing, physics-based gameplay invites all ages to think logically, and reveals that pressing the right button at the right time, is often more rewarding than mashing buttons. Just when you thought pressing the left button would make your character go left, Element4l crushes this doctrine.

Just don't expect an easy platformer. The first time you play element4l, you will struggle... just like the first time you've learned how to ride a bike.

Indifferent to the temptations of aberration and bombast, Element4l's Spartan aesthetic plays nicely with its devotion to pure platforming. It also buries Element4l's identity beneath waves of difficulty and a few inventive tricks. Still, seeing Element4l to its conclusion is enjoyable enough, and worth it for moments of earned validation.

Element4l is a beautifully conceived platformer that presents a charming experience with a few flaws that ruin the game's flow.

Ultimately it fails upon execution when it comes to keeping game consistency by not sticking to it’s own rules. To quote an old adage, when it’s good, it’s very good but when it’s bad, it’s horrid.

But still: it's hard. Like, unreasonably hard. Obviously, for some people that's appealing, and for those people Element4L might be worth checking out. If you don't want a relentlessly punishing platformer, though, then you'd best avoid this one.

Every bit as tough as it is gorgeous, Element4l is a wonderful physics-based puzzle platformer that every fan of the genre should downloadEvery bit as tough as it is gorgeous, Element4l is a wonderful physics-based puzzle platformer that every fan of the genre should download without delay. Better yet, when do you head over to PSN, be sure to compare the price of Element4l to similar Vita offerings, and you'll see that it's an absolute bargain too!

Indeed, having had the opportunity to play each of the following on Vita, I'd certainly recommend Element4l over these considerably more expensive alternatives for example... htoLNiQ: The Firefly Diary, La-Mulana EX, Murasaki Baby, Stealth Inc 2, The Swapper, and plenty more besides.

It really is that good, and definitely gets this gamers seal of approval.
