You are a solar-powered craft. The sun is your death timer. Hurtle towards the sunset at breakneck speed in a futile race against time. Race The Sun is inspired by arcade games of the past with a focus on high scores, short game sessions, and a sense of pure fun mingled with a nerve-wracking tension. The rules are simple: don't crash, stay in the light, and don't slow down! This is a cross-save, cross-buy title.

Obviously, it's not the most complex game. But quite frankly, it doesn't need to be. Race The Sun is — and only wants to be — a simple, addictive game for you to pick up and play, and it's not hard to imagine that anyone who does pick it up will just end up playing and playing and playing it.

Race the Sun is a blast while it lasts, but there may not be enough to bring you back after the first couple of enjoyable hours of gameplay.

A great premise can't disguise its flaws. Race the Sun tries to stand out from the crowd, but struggles to rise above the horizon.

Object is to avoid obstacles as long as you can. Really good in short bursts as the levels change daily. Gets a little deeper with powerups and special abilities but this isn't something you will play for hours. Progress though a set of challenges. I think this game is more at home on the Vita with its quick play and the sticks seem more responsive and tuned on Vita than PS4. Vita version takes a bit to load but runs smooth with a very noticeable hit in detail. Can get frustrating and sometimes you get screwed by the environment in unavoidable no out paths unless you have a jump left. Very addicting. Expand

I was not openminded as what I saw was a simplistic endless runner better placed on the free page of the app store akin to cube runner and temple run. However I spent a few addicted days and was left with a pleasurable albeit still short experience. The game effectively blends minimalist graphics and fast additive gameplay. The controls are excellent and precise running very smooth on the vita. The whole package is very addictive. The challenges and levelling system are extremely well designed and engaging making it hard to put down and making the player approach the level in various unique ways such as only turning right. The levels are interestingly changed every day making the game feel fresh. It was exciting quickly learning new maps and having to start all over again. On the downside the game is very simplistic and lacks longevity. In the age of smart phones this game lacks true innovation and the sun element feels needless. Games like this often are elevated by the music, look at super hexagon for example, but in Race the Sun the music is far too pedestrian not matching the speed of the gameplay.
On the whole as a PS plus custom,er this is a totally worthwhile experience. Outside of which it is hard to recommend paying any large sum for this title as it feels at times like a free mobile game, albeit a good one. The game is an addictive and aesthetically impressive experience worth playing for a few days.

A good one that has plenty of reasons to keep coming back, but nothing terribly new. Your enjoyment of this will depend of how much you enjoy it's minor twists on the genre.

It's a game that has you racing against the inevitable; an ever lowering sun. Dodging obstacles and getting a high score is to be expected as well. Like the best in the genre it has objectives to complete during runs. Doing so will cause you to unlock new power ups that give the game more depth as well as some other game modes. None of these unlockables change the fundamental aspects of the gameplay, but they do make it deeper than the average infinite runner.

The addictive nature is here as is the core gameplay. It does try to be a fresh take on the genre, but ultimately doesn't really succeed. Instead what we get is another solid infinite runner with daily randomized levels. Whether you are competing for that high score or just trying to beat all the challenges to unlock everything this is a very entertaining game. Not exactly new, but fun nonetheless.

    I give "Race the Sun" a 7.9/10.

    Race the Sun
    Endless Frustrations
Race the sun is an endless runner game where you control a ship trying to rack up as many points as possible..
Before you start there are challenges to clear...
clearing these challenges will progress the level of your ship...
as you progress your level you unlock new drops to help you get further as well as ship perks,,
This helps with the one more try mentality you need in an endless runner..
Especially since this is all that the game is...
The world isn’t too interesting and that’s mostly due to the fact that is changes every 24 hours…
but it’s still thrilling trying to find the right path in a region, remembering where you messed up and trying to overcome these obstacles next time…
as there definitely are some wrong paths with impossible obstacles unless you have a specific pick up with you…
this can make the game feel a bit cheap, frustrating and unfair..
a smack in the face like your perseverance meant nothing when you get into a situation you have no control in…
This ultimately hurt my overall experience of what otherwise is a fairly enjoyable quick break kind of game..
    There’s not much depth here…
complete challenges, stay out of the shadows, and race the sun.
    I give race the sun
    a 6.5/10
