Senran Kagura: Estival Versus - PC Launch Trailer
Apr 4, 2016Senran Kagura: Estival Versus is a much better looking version of its predecessor, and includes enhanced features to up your experience and add more variation to your gameplay. That said, it takes a different approach to stringing together moves than the first (which isn't as smooth), and it opts to add loading screens all over the place to compensate for enhanced textures and bigger areas. Because of this, it's not entirely a better game than Shinovi Versus - and instead comes second, but still very much recommended.
Apr 12, 2016I'd like to think that I tried to like Senran Kagura Estival Versus. It's not my cup of tea, but I'd like to think I have an open enough mind that I can still see the good in games that I wouldn't usually like. In this case, though, I just don't get it, since there are so many other better options out there — definitely in terms of video games, and I have to assume the same goes for the bouncing anime schoolgirl boobs, too.

I was a little shocked that many male reviewers don't like the game, I even know one and the reason why gave a low score to every game was because "most reviewers did".
A sad thing, Senran Kagura Burst and Deep Crimson 2 for the 3DS and Shinovi Versus for PS Vita are great, and so is Estival Versus.
Nice game, good story, good performance in single player (in multiplayer there is lag sadly) and finally you can play as any character in any mission in the game.
A must buy, don't look at the cover or lower reviews, play it because most people judge this game by "what others" say and not by playing it, it is really an enjoying game.… Expand

If you like the musou genre, this is a game you should not miss - very good combat, all stages are just the right size to make you defeat a huge number of enemies and also ending before it ever gets boring.
There's a lot of unlockable clothing, finishing scenes (a perv-funny version of Mortal Kombat's fatalities).
Yes, the game has a lot of big boobs and sexy girls, but do not mistake it for those games that have nothing more. Senran Kagura (all the series) has amazing gameplay, great combat, lots of content, a funny story, fully developed characters.
The "sexy" parts are meant more as comedic than actually arousing so don't worry, you will not become a pervert looser misogynistic serial rapist by playing this.… Expand

When you think about it there isn't really all that much that's dirty about this series. You have oversized boobs, insane jiggle physics, and clothing destruction. When you single those out you could be talking about Dead or Alive 5 for all anyone knows. As a female (who isn't bothered by fanservice) I really like this series. Not just the gameplay either, which I will say feels good when you get into it and eventually even gets addictive, I love that the vast majority of characters are strong females. They're not all your typical damsel in distress type that you get in a fair share of games. They all have different personalities too. Some are cliched, that's inevitable, but there are some pretty unique ones in the group.
While the story has it's moments of fanservice and pervyness it's not really anything anyone should be offended by. It's usually so out there that it's more funny then offensive. Then there are those moments where it gets dark or sad and those are why you end up enjoying the story. Like all stories it's not going to mesh with everyone-- some will like it more than others. People like to throw around the "sex sells" argument but there is no sex in this game-- heck, there's not even any nudity. I've lived in America my whole life and I can assure you there are far more offensive and sexual things in USA's TV, movies, music, and literature than anything that's been featured in Senran Kagura.
The thing is, Senran Kagura is as sexualized as you make it. You can turn off clothing destruction and put them in full clothing or you can have them run around in bikinis, you can even buy less or more revealing outfits if you so choose to.
People just need to try it out before they disregard it for the initial impression it gives off. It looks like fanservice, and it is most of the time, but there is a soul deep down behind all that. And to anyone wanting to try it for more than it's fanservice I say go for it. I went for it and now I love this series for everything that it is, not just what it tries to sell itself on. It's a game that knows what it is but it goes beyond that to be so much more-- it's a fanservice game that plays like a full and well thought-out game. I'm not putting it on a pedestal and saying it's genre defining but it definitely doesn't deserve all the ignorant hate it gets from people. It's a humble little brawler, nothing more and nothing less.
People misinterpret it, Senran Kagura isn't being pervy about breasts, it's celebrating breasts.… Expand

WhenLet me get this out first: If you are offended playing games that star big-breasted girls that kick ass then this game is not for you.
When a game comes out in the western culture, many mainstream publications will judge and score it mainly based on the erotic aspect. This time around I am actually surprised, so far the reviews are pretty fair and balanced, maybe because the ones who who would usually give it bad scores decided not to review it.
People lament that this game should not have so much fan service, but honestly without it, the series would lose most of its attraction (despite solid gameplay). In game design, realism and fun often don't mix so well.
About this entry in the series, you get the most out of the story line if you already played the previous entries like Burst and Shinovi Versus. Newcomers to the story will often be lost because it assumes that you already know the background of the characters and the schools from previous games.
The core game mechanics and basic game design have essentially stayed the same: There is a main story with chapters and subchapters where you have to face various grunt ninja and boss characters (which are the main characters of the series) and then there are the Shinobi Girl's Heart missions which fleshes out each individual character's story. I like the main story this time around more than the previous ones, it has more twists and introduces a number of new characters.
Every character uses a different fighting style and the variety is what makes this game so interesting. You will most likely develop a preference for certain characters and fighting styles, and revisit individual missions with them, trying to get better rankings, scores and times.
Essentially the old characters play very much like in the previous installations, with a couple of refinements. When you finish a boss, you often get a finishing scene, that changes depending on the environment and the clothing the boss is wearing. These finishers are oftentimes pretty hilarious, so just trying to see all finishers is a lot of fun.
The gameplay is solid, fast-paced and fun as always and the refinements make it the best entry in the series playing and story wise. I wished it would play at 60 frames per second on the Vita, but despite some slowdowns, it is very playable.
For me Senran Kagura is one of the best real 3D fighting game series on the market at the moment.… Expand
