"Every aspect of the game is virtually flawless, from its movie inspired soundtrack, to the incredibly life-like FMV, to the detailed battle and Materia systems, to the boatload of simplistic and addictive mini-games. This is what RPG fans have been waiting for." ... Read full review

"I think the story sucks, but the game is excellent. The thing about Final Fantasy VII is, whether you like it or hate it, the merits of the game can always be argued very strongly from either point."

Final Fantasy VII is an experience that everyone should try at least once. I have played through it a few times and I can say that this gameFinal Fantasy VII is an experience that everyone should try at least once. I have played through it a few times and I can say that this game truly deserves a medal. I honestly believe that it is the best game that has ever been made based on several factors. For me, Storyline is a big factor. FF7 is a game that actively progresses through the story. There are no long breaks where nothing seems to happen. The actual battling is turn based, rapid, and thrilling. Containing an almost never ending assortment of difficult and amusing enemies and bosses that will keep you entertained throughout all three disks. The plot is immense, with surprises, twists, and excitement up until the stunning climax. Graphics wise, the game is not lacking. Although the characters may be somewhat blocky, the battles and cut scenes are magnificent. The soundtrack is one of my favorite parts of the game. The soundtrack fits well with the gameplay and the battle themes are just amazing. Overall, I give it a perfect 10. Expand

In fact, I would give this game a 100/10 to counter the pointless 0's because people are clearly ignorant as all heck when it comes to massively popular AAA games. They give these games 0's because of their own hatred for something that succeeds so well. Mindless, fake gamers.

Every single person I know in my life that I've shown this game to back in 1997 was in complete jaw dropping awe at how gorgeous the cutscenes, music, gameplay, story, and characters were. This game looks like crap now, sure, but back then it looked amazing. People who complain about graphics are obviously too young to appreciate how great they were when it was released. This is called living through the era when each generation wowed you, no matter what. This game was released only a year after the PS1 was released so obviously things would improve throughout the years. This happens with every generation of consoles. Developers figure out how to make games better looking every year....

Flawless game for its time. 10/10 and I cannot wait for the remake.

One of the best things about this game is that you can play it now and really get a good understanding of how deep the decline of Square EnixOne of the best things about this game is that you can play it now and really get a good understanding of how deep the decline of Square Enix has been since Square Soft's golden age by comparing it to its horrific remake.

But anyway, while FF6 was probably actually the game that kickstarted Final Fantasy's golden age, FF7 is the one that really propelled Final Fantasy's popularity in gaming. It was also a monumental game in showing the capability of games to be cinematic experiences. That alone would make this a respectable game in video game history, but FF7 is amazing in general.

The characters are exceptional in both their personality, and their designs - which are absolutely iconic. The story starts off fantastically, and then takes a turn into JRPG convolution and insanity. But it continues to have exceptional moments throughout and ends fantastically. The score might be the best Nobuo Uematsu has ever done, and thats saying a lot - because it propels this game to have perhaps the best OST in video games. The gameplay is pretty typical of JRPGs, which means its somewhat mediocre, but the materia system is pretty excellent.

I like remake way more. Remake made this game actually feel alive and mean something. This one feels extremely outdated and not interesting,I like remake way more. Remake made this game actually feel alive and mean something. This one feels extremely outdated and not interesting, sure it's the same story, but in this one it's just not fun to play it. Remake made it fun. Turn based combat made original extremely slow and boring. Characters feel lifeless in original, but in remake it's complete opposite. In remake combat is amazing, characters actually feel real etc. Would i have liked it in 1997? Well no, because then i would have played it in 1997. Instead in 1997 i played true classics like resident evil (1996). But 2020 remake of FF7 actually made me interested in this series. Expand
