  1. Incredibly distinct and interesting, priced right at $9.99, and is absolutely worthy of much more attention.
  2. From our perspective, echochrome is easily the best downloadable game currently available for PSP.
  3. Fascinating perspective-puzzler with stylish presentation and a high addiction-factor - unique!
  4. Puzzle fans, even those who are skeptical, shouldn't hesitate to make this their next PSP game.
  5. There are certainly plenty of addictive puzzle games about, but the PSP has never seen one like this. It may not look like much, but believe me once you start playing Echochrome then you may never put it down again.
  6. The stages walk that thin line between difficult and frustrating, which sometimes forced me to shut off the PSP and take a little break from the game because I only had one more goal to reach, but no visible way to get there. Then again, this could just be the fault of my weakness at the game. Thankfully, after each stage, I’ve had a feeling of satisfaction, so I haven’t had a point in time where I’ve not looked forward to a free moment to lay my hands on Echochrome.

One of those puzzle titles that doesn't come along very often, but immediately strikes a chord for its unique gameplay and incredible depth.
  8. Among typical gamers, though, the primary audience is going to consist of those who like something very strange to look at while hopped up on psychotropic drugs, or want to try and understand the minds of those who are hopped up.
  9. Echochrome is a complex and fascinating combination of M.C. Escher’s paintings, the Rubik-cube and knot riddles, combined with an elaborate gameplay. All in all, it’s a very felicitous game, simple yet unfathomably deep. This game is a must have for all true puzzle freaks.
  10. Echochrome has a particular appeal that won't go unnoticed.
  11. A literal expression of the phrase, "What you see is what you get."

Every moment spent with Echochrome is a refined and edifying one. [May 2008, p.109]
  13. It's certainly mind-bending at times, but also relaxing. With a level editor in tow, there's more than enough here to warrant a purchase.

Echochrome is one of the most inventive games available not only on the PSP, but anywhere. For somebody looking for something new in the puzzle genre, you can't really go wrong with this one.
  15. With easy to learn concepts and simple, straightforward gameplay, Echochrome will have you defying the laws of gravity in no time.
  16. The design and concept of Echochrome is so simple that it seems easy to play. And it is: you can see all puzzles in one day if you try hard enough. Still, it requires some thinking and it's a surefire hit with puzzle-fans.
  17. Ultimately Echochrome is a concept wrapped up in a game - its minimalist design philosophy paired with new mechanics will win it praise from the games-are-art crowd. However, some gamers may find the mechanics and puzzles fairing on the esoteric side.
  18. Overall, echochrome is one of the most unique puzzle games to come out in a while.
  19. Echochrome is a unique experience that's easy to recommend.
  20. A good puzzle game that disappoints with its many faults, but can and should be appreciated for it's unique gameplay.

This game will certainly appeal to true puzzle fans. It is a refreshing change of pace for others and EchoChrome fits perfectly on the PSP platform. However, it is definitely not recommended for late night playing as these addictive and brain-taxing puzzles will keep you up for hours.

I'm pretty sure evenTwo things you'll notice when you play "Echochrome" for the first time; the minimalist design and the great soundtrack. I'm pretty sure even if you never cared about classical music before, this might be for you. But "Echochrome" is not a music game, but a mind game, yet the music really creates the atmosphere with the black white design that runs very smooth and flawless. The puzzles start easy to get used to the controls and become step by step, more and more difficult. Although there is a certain time limit, the game itself is relaxing while being challenging. You don't have lives, you simply try again on the current level. This is truly a classy game, art and something new. If you are restless, all about graphics, action and unlocking achievements, this game is not for you - but I'd recommend it anyway, because you should try it. ;) Full Review »

Full Review »
