Gamers control squares made of four smaller block pieces that are dropped into the playing field one at a time to form same-color squares. The vertical "timeline" sweeps across the playing field from left to right and wipes the same-color squares from the playing field. Unmatched blocks pile up, and the game ends when the pile gets to the top of the playing screen. Advance through many action-packed levels, each with its own musical theme and sound effects. Lumines II comes out of the gate strong and never lets up in creating a perfect puzzle game, and it comes with our highest recommendation.

The sequel is even better, although it doesn't really add much. But it's a classic that needs to be played. [Christmas 2006, p.100]
  3. On the road, or at home in bed, Lumines II is the top of the PSP's puzzler pops. If you're looking for a game to keep you busy on a long plane ride, this is it.
  4. Like any good portable title, it’s meant to be played in short bursts, and that’s where you’ll get the most enjoyment out of this one. On the visual side, Lumines II contains every bit of style and appeal that the first title did.
  5. A simple but effective upgrade.
  6. When a game is as much to play as the first Lumines then it’s hard to accept limited imitations packaged as new editions.
  7. The old songs mixed with the new, the unchanged gameplay, the redundant difficulty modes, the atrocious inclusion of really really bad music videos.

This is definitely the definitive one. It has the second most content, only beaten by Live (which is incredibly segmented through DLC) and it just feels great to play. However, my one issue is a true 100% file is painfully long to get to. I have over 45 hours in and I still don't have the S+ rank for time played. Expand

Entertaining puzzle game, but not the best. Addictive but like any other puzzle. Great Disappointment: Game Sharing transfer a One Player Entertaining puzzle game, but not the best. Addictive but like any other puzzle. Great Disappointment: Game Sharing transfer a One Player Demo to the ot¡her PSP That's not game sharing for me. Records don't have the name of a user if system is comparted, so competitivity is reduced. Music and videos in the game are no great (for my taste). Expand
