  1. King Kong for the PSP might lack the emotional impact of the console version but it does not fail to bring us all the visual beauty and brilliant blend of playing as either man or King of the savage jungle.

The control is decent enough for some fun dino hunting, the kind of deep jungle danger that we haven't had much of since the original Turok (and haven't had any of on PSP), but the handling of the story is messy and confusing.
  3. It is most definitely King Kong in the palm of your hand, but the sacrifices and compromises made to get it there ultimately suck away much of its appeal.
  4. Official Playstation 2 Magazine UK

An ambitious attempt to shoehorn the epic PS2 game into the PSP, ruined by editing, unfriendly controls and gloomy graphics. [Feb 2006, p.98]

It is considerably shorter than the console versions and retails for approximately the same price, there is nothing to come back to after the game is finished and unfortunately that will be far sooner than you will wish.
  6. But while the PSP version adds a two-player Co-op mode, it also has wonkier controls than its console cousin, which weren't great to begin with.
  7. PSM Magazine

Simply put, although the content is taken from the console version (though there's much less of it), the controls kill most of the experience. [Apr 2006, p.88]

I thought this game was pretty good. The best parts were the graphics and the sound. The graphics were amazing with good textures (where most I thought this game was pretty good. The best parts were the graphics and the sound. The graphics were amazing with good textures (where most PSP games fail). The models were highly detailed. The sound is great too, the voice acting was great. The Sound FX are good. The one huge problem is the game length. The longer levels are around 10 minutes, while some are about 3 min. The level I was looking forward to the most, the T-rex level, was only 2 minutes. It was the best level in the game, but shortest too. The game only takes a little more than 3 hours, but that is time well spent. Another bad part was how you are alone as Jack. The game is really messed up because of that. Some really great moments are when fighting the larger raptors, because it takes strategy. This is a great game. Expand

Game is exciting at first but you soon realize you just fight the same bugs and dinosaurs the whole game. and the Kong missions are terrible.

The story is stripped down from the console version and much of the later levels are missing.

Play the console versions over this, but honestly even those games are overrated.

A massively cut-down version of the home console games. No companions, you're on your own. No idea where you're going or why. This A massively cut-down version of the home console games. No companions, you're on your own. No idea where you're going or why. This is half a game at best.Tthe Kong levels are great fun but too few and really short. The Jack levels are messy and confusing. And the whole thing is over in what feels like minutes. An all Kong sequel would not be amiss if you're listening Ancel. Expand
