King Kong for the PSP might lack the emotional impact of the console version but it does not fail to bring us all the visual beauty and brilliant blend of playing as either man or King of the savage jungle.
-
The control is decent enough for some fun dino hunting, the kind of deep jungle danger that we haven't had much of since the original Turok (and haven't had any of on PSP), but the handling of the story is messy and confusing.
-
It is most definitely King Kong in the palm of your hand, but the sacrifices and compromises made to get it there ultimately suck away much of its appeal.
-
Official Playstation 2 Magazine UKAn ambitious attempt to shoehorn the epic PS2 game into the PSP, ruined by editing, unfriendly controls and gloomy graphics. [Feb 2006, p.98]
-
It is considerably shorter than the console versions and retails for approximately the same price, there is nothing to come back to after the game is finished and unfortunately that will be far sooner than you will wish.
-
But while the PSP version adds a two-player Co-op mode, it also has wonkier controls than its console cousin, which weren't great to begin with.
-
PSM MagazineSimply put, although the content is taken from the console version (though there's much less of it), the controls kill most of the experience. [Apr 2006, p.88]
