Guiding a cursor around a screen, activating a scope, and taking out targets is certainly an original and enjoyable experience, but the repetition of the enemy patterns make it difficult to return to after the game has been beaten or you've had your fill of playing sniper for a day.
It's not the deepest game ever made, but it is one of those things that you can use to get a quick fix of gaming. [Oct 2001, p.135]
It rapidly descends into an overly-linear memory test which, without the physical act of aiming or the genuinely engaging ducking mechanic of "Time Crisis," all too quickly becomes repetitive and dull.
A very faithful recreation of its coin-operated brethren in both its graphics and gameplay. The bad news, however, is that without the light gun, it’s just not as fun. Plain as that.
Featuring a well-developed storyline and numerous exclusive modes for this home version, Silent Scope 2 falters primarily when it comes to accurately targeting your enemies.
If you absolutely loved the arcade version, don’t buy this game. You will be so disappointed that you will want to skeet shoot the disc itself.
This is one port that went from arcade star to console dog. Heinous, dude.

Summary Using weapons like the Thermal Vision Scope and X-Ray Scope (without the use of a light gun peripheral), Dark Silhouette pits the player against enemy terrorists in four single & two-player modes of play, including Story, Shooting Range, Duel, and Original.
