Its cute look hides a deep and thought simulation game which will force us to be focused and to have fast reactions if we want to succeed every mission we afford. Patience and good decisions will be rewarded with flights where everyone comes back home safe. A surprisingly good game.

An amazing accomplishment for a team of just two people. It’s an enjoyable, well thought out, and immersive little game that will scratch most people’s micromanagement itches. Having mouse control on a PC version might be advantageous, and therefore the way to go with a potential purchase, but the portable nature of the Nintendo Switch means you can take your crew everywhere you go. Win-win.

Despite its unyielding nature and curiously juxtaposing approach to its characters, Bomber Crew is a sometimes thrilling and constantly rewarding title. Favouring roguelite progression, strategy and resource management over frantic arcade-style combat, if you can get past the simple, cute visuals and steep learning curve you’ll find a rich, intense and satisfying experience here.

Bomber Crew is increasingly difficult and often frustrating, but it has bags of charm and completely suits the Switch. Playing portably is a great way to experience the game; it looks lovely and contains some wonderful nuances within the sound and features. I loved the little homing pigeon, decaling my plane with garish pictures of Yoshi and solving problems, if only there weren’t so many problems to solve at the same time.

Bomber Crew isn't for everyone, as I noted it's not for the easily frustrated, but if you're willing to deal with its quirks, interface issues, and a few questionable design choices, there's a unique and enjoyable rogue-like bomber game at Bomber Crew's core. The game seems to be suited best for its PC origins, so if you have a Steam account consider getting the game there before going for the Switch version.

While I wholeheartedly recommend sticking with it till you really pick up on what it is Bomber Crew wants you to do, and you can do it, I wouldn’t be surprised if it flustered more than a few players from the get-go. When it all clicks though, what you get is a wonderfully intense, mentally stimulating game that takes something like FTL to a whole new level.

Don’t let the bright design fool you, Bomber Crew is a full-on challenge, with minutiae galore, from the types of guns and engines you equip to the very gloves and boots that your crew wear (gotta have thermal protection for high altitude bombing). If you enjoy this genre of inevitable-failure games, then, by all means, strap in but I found the whole thing incredibly stressful, fiddly and just not much fun.

A really nice game with great mechanics and good controls. Possibly one of the best indie games on switch.

Bomber Crew can be a very hectic strategy sim where prioritizing is key as the game tries to split your attention too thin. The initialBomber Crew can be a very hectic strategy sim where prioritizing is key as the game tries to split your attention too thin. The initial learning curve, once you're done with the tutorials, is steep. I'm sure you'll ask yourself as your plane explodes and your crew dies "how the heck was I supposed to do all that!" However, if you persist it does get easier.

First of all, as time goes on, the controls will feel more natural. The game does seem to want you to have a mouse, but after awhile, I was able to wrap my head around the controls. Now, it's second nature for me.

Also, you'll be able to afford upgrades that will not only increase the firepower and survivability of your plane and crew, but also take some of the tasks off of your hands. An example of this is turrets with ammo feeds. Your crew members will also gain skills (with cool downs) that will help, such as auto-tagging fighters.

Finally, you'll just understand what the game is asking of you. You'll understand how to best prioritize the tasks. You'll figure out how to use your navigator and flight altitude to minimize risk.

Honestly, I really like this game. I’m glad I got over the initial impression that Bomber Crew felt impossible…and being able to play it on-the-go with the Switch is always awesome.
