Cake Laboratory is a simple concept, with delightful treats inside. The colors and animation are great to pull younger kids in, and the higher levels require some skilled coordination that will tempt older players to try and beat. While the vibe is pretty similar to a mobile game, the extra bonus of making your cakes adds a fun twist. It’s easy enough for kids to enjoy, with enough harder challenges that an adult won’t be bored. And for the price, it’s a pretty solid game. Plus, you get to live out your fantasy of making all the cakes, and that’s like, a universal desire we all have right?

I was skeptical, but it was only $3. She and my other niece, each around 6 years old have played for hours. The cakes move back and forth at the top of the screen, and you just have to time a click to stack them on top of each other. You can have one error; two errors and you have to restart the level. Based on how straight they are you get a rating of 1-3 stars. There are 50 levels I think, each moving the cake faster than the last. Between levels you can customize your own cakes, with some truly girly options. It is $3 well spent if you have a girl this age. My nephew(10 y/o) also plays sometimes and I’ve even played it with them a little myself. It’s simple, but it’s fun. Expand
