The story here leaves you with the sense of despair that only answers to existential questions can bring. Though paths don’t branch and the ending, the sunrise, is inescapable, varied dialogue options develop different characterizations of your pilot that alter the information we become privy to, which is fine because this is the kind of ending that begs you to begin again.

Can Androids Pray: Blue is a hard-hitting, starkly beautiful narrative adventure. You’ll undoubtedly spend longer reflecting on the experience than you will playing it, but all of that time will be time well spent.

CAN ANDROIDS PRAY:BLUE tells an effective story of two mech pilots addressing some existential topics as they face imminent death. It’s not a game, but a unique narrative that’s better if you have someone with whom you can share the characters’ struggle.

Can Androids Pray: Blue has some solid writing, but it doesn't exactly justify its existence as a game. Perhaps more troublesome is the game's extreme brevity. I managed to finish this experience in about fifteen minutes, and because of the previously mentioned lack of branching, there isn't much in the way of replayability. Considering how short this offering is, the current $6.99 price tag will likely prove too steep for many. And while the game does a solid job of exploring its concepts, it still feels like there isn't enough time to fully elaborate on all of them, ultimately robbing the story of some of its impact.

Can Androids Pray: Blue is a decently engaging, extremely short branching visual novel that I enjoyed, just not for long enough. If those eShop coins are burning a hole in your pocket and you want a few interesting minutes, go for it. Anyone else can probably skip this one.
