It can’t match the visuals of other releases, but at the same time I don’t think it makes any major sacrifices that keep the experience from being enjoyable. Just be aware that there is a considerable difference between the Switch and PS4/Xbox One versions visually, and I think you’ll be fine.

DOOM is a great game, no matter what platform you play it on, including Switch. On the Switch, you lose SnapMap and will have a significantly reduced graphical presentation, but the experience remains fun and addictive, and now also portable thanks to the nature of the Switch. For some, the trade-off may not make sense, but for others, it’s more than fair.

Doom in this portable version is an experience to try at least once and to enjoy completely, despite some graphical limits and controls in need of careful calibration.

It’s clear, beyond the obvious limitation with resolution and frame-rate, that DOOM for Switch has had to make some restrictions. Even so, for those who haven’t yet experienced one of last year’s finest, most surprising releases, DOOM even now represents one of the genre’s finest moments for some time. Clearly those who already own the game on another platform will have to think long and hard over the novel value of having a game of this caliber on the go. And while the visual blemishes and rough edges do detract on occasion and are clear to spot, playing DOOM on the Nintendo Switch still conjures that same jubilant energy that id Software’s behemoth has long been praised for. Tainted in its visuals it might be, the heart, soul and demon-crushing ferocity of its gameplay, in the end, shines through regardless.

Doom is still one of the best first person shooters out there and the limited power provided by Nintendo Switch can't change this. Despite its ridiculous resolution and its low FPS, you can now enjoy the experience in full portability thanks to this porting.

Obviously, DOOM cannot match with the graphical power of its counterparts on other consoles, but it still is DOOM running on a Nintendo Switch. The Joy-Cons are not sufficient for a FPS, but the overall experience is a good and gory game on the Switch.

DOOM suffers some undeniable downgrades in graphical fidelity on Switch, which anyone could've predicted. It's when these downgrades effect enjoyment of the game, however, that one starts to wonder if it was all worth it.

For the fast paced shooter like Doom, it's noticeable. For that reason alone I would deduct 2 points of the final score, but on the other hand, the Switch version, essentially IS a portable version, which is very impressive ... and let's not forget that you get all DLCs. I can't stop fighting HELL....and I'm teaching myself the most crazy ways to finish a demon with a glory kill haha :oP ........ Bethesda and Panic Button have done a beautiful job. Nooo way 3rd parties say the Switch can't run "modern" software......I know the textues aren't as my PC - SO WHAT! DOOM looks pretty awesome both in docked and handled. I'm so impressed. Cool campaign story, awesome arcade modes just like my days in the 90s. Gaming is ment to be fun and that's what Nintendo Switch does.........!!! Expand

Doom 2016 is a great game. My only complaint is that there are not more levels.

DOOM has made it's way to the beloved semi-portable Nintendo switch console and it is a blast to play.

It's fast paced demon destroying good old doom with its amazing soundtrack at 30FPS and slightly lower graphics than the PC and PS4/Xbox1 versions.

it runs pretty well on the switch but does have a few hiccups in some of the more densely packed parts of the singleplayer campaign, still not that much of a bother. the fact that you can take this amazing game on the go is just mind-blowing to me and I personally think the full price of the game is worth it, however if you have played this before or have a different system I would like to remind you that it's there, looks slightly better and has a cheaper price tag.

I only recommend picking it up on the switch if you have not played it before, don't have access to another console version of the game or if you want some portable demon destruction on your system

having said all of that this gets a big old solid 8.4 from me for the fun it provides and the sensation of absolute badassery it gives you when you rip demons in half with your bare hands
