Dorfromanik succeed in nearly all it sets out to do – delivering a fun, relaxing and addictive gameplay loop that’s perfectly suited for the Switch. If you want a game that’s easy to pick up and play in and play in between this holiday’s bigger release, Dorfromanik is just the ticket.

Despite the control issues, I’ve been enchanted by Dorfromantik because it’s a zen-like relaxing game that keeps me engaged with bountiful variety and just-enough strategy. If you’re seeking a level-based puzzle challenge or a boisterous multiplayer experience, Dorfromantik won’t be for you, but if you’re down for some low-key tile tinkering, this is a gem.

Dorfromantik offers a video game experience without any violence, multiplayer or deep storytelling; and with this successfully creates a pure, relaxing building game.

Dorfromantik may not have a ton of staying power, but it offers up a satisfying and chill puzzle experience that we feel is worthwhile in the end. If you’re on the lookout for a game that doesn’t expect much of you and fits well for those late-night sessions just before bed, we’d recommend you give this one a look if it sounds interesting.

It's like the board game "Carcassonne" but less competitive. I can only focus on building up a city I like and making it as big as possible.

What I would like to suggest is to create a sort of story mode that may motivate ppl more addicted to it.

Overall, it's the game I like.

Points are awarded for matching terrain types across tiles, and for creating areas of the same terrain type above a specified size.

Unusually for a game such as this there is no campaign or challenges of any type, instead the only real aim is to try to beat your previous best score(s). Whilst this does help the game achieve the chill vibe it’s clearly aiming for, it does potentially reduce the playability for those who like a more focused experience.
