Very addicting gameplay and love the exploration, wish the game is bigger and with more monsters.
Felt like a mini Zelda BOTW, a good warming up before next year’s Tears Of The Kingdom.

As others have said, the gameplay loop is quite shallow; simple but not in a rewarding or fun way. It's essentially a chore simulator stapled onto an open-world game. You run, glide and jump around collecting things to increase your capability to...run, jump and glide around collecting things. It gets pretty old fast, but there's a monotony to it that you can get absorbed in, and that's where I think most of the positive reviews come from.

You can collect monsters, but there's not a whole lot of monster variety. In typical Dragon Quest tradition, the game uses recoloured models to flesh out the roster, but it's much, much more noticeable this time around-- seriously the unique monster pool might be the smallest of any DQ game to date-- and that's not a good thing when you have elements of Monster Collecting in your game.

This lack of monster-variety is brought to the forefront during combat sequences of the game. In short, your main character is all-but useless in combat, meaning you'll be relying on this limited monster pool to do most of the fighting for you. You get a slingshot in which to barrage foes while your AI monsters attack them, but it's clunky and didn't feel fun to use. Ultimately I found myself skipping non-essential fights and that's a pretty bad sign the combat isn't engaging.

As for preformance, it looks rough and preforms so-so, which I assume is because of the hamfisted psuedo open-world elements of the game. Frequent FPS drops and muddy textures defined my experience. While some parts of the world looked and ran better than others, the inconsistency in FPS and texture quality makes it hard to immerse yourself in the good parts of the game.

I've played many games in the DQ series, mainline and spin-off, but this one is a weird outlier and the usual charm of the series is really struggling to carry this entry. It'd be a hard sell to recommend this to anyone except the most die-hard DQ fans and even then, they'd be struggling to squeeze more than say... 20 hours of enjoyment out of this.

Also, a side note. While I love Koichi Sugiyama's work, it might be time to create some new music for these games. The increased usage of asset-recycling paired with the lack of an original score isn't helping Dragon Quest Treasures stand out, a few new tunes to listen to would have helped alleviate traipsing back and forth through its otherwise unremarkable worlds.

But I will say the voice acting is quite fun and it sounds like the VA's were really into it. Always good to see.

In closing, there's not a whole lot to Dragon Quest Treasures worth experiencing. I'd say probably go watch your favourite youtuber play it instead of buying it.

If you love the Dragon Quest series, you will absolutely love this. There's a lot of things to find and it gets addicting. Sound and graphics are great as well. There's some fps drops but it's not gamebreaking.

Love the game. Don't listen to any of the hate it receives and just play it yourself. It's a simple loot gathering and monster taming game. It's fun, has little to no bugs or FPS issues, and looks great. Has far less issues than the new Pokemon games, that's for sure.

Dragon Quest Treasures is one of those games that right at the start of the game, you think this is great! But as you play more of the game it quickly shows its true colors, it will not take the player long to discover the rather weak and repetitive gameplay. Dragon Quest Treasures desperately wants to be Dragon Quest Monsters but without any of the charm and a hefty dose of bad AI that controls your monster team.

A big problem is with your monster allies which bug out frequently, either by getting stuck in scenery or not attacking, this often can lead to a game over situation forcing you to reload your previous save point wasting valuable time.

Each monster has a 'forte' skill which is basically a way to explore the world, such as super jump or gliding but since you can only have 3 monsters in your party, you are basically required to have a monster that can make you leap and a monster that can glide leaving you just one choice for your final slot.

The catapult is awful mechanic, you can 'shoot' monsters to either give them buffs, heal or damage them, the sheer amount of pellets though makes it such a chore to go through to find the pellet you want to use, aim and fire...especially difficult against fast moving monsters, the catapult basically annoying to use.

Collecting treasure is also pointless because it always respawns each time you visit the same area so you end up in a loop of collecting loot, returning to your base...going out collecting loot and so forth even in the same areas you have already just cleared out, effectively making the treasure collecting rather meaningless outside of just increasing your rank. Finding treasures is also a moot point, you have a dragon vision but its useless since the treasure is almost always a few steps away so its just an extra hoop you have to jump through, not to mention near constant attacks from rival gangs which add more to annoy you than anything else.

Sound and Music isn't especially great, the monster voices are always on loop and quickly getting annoying especially slimes, which start out sounding cute but after hearing them thousands of times, it gets old.

Multiplayer is pretty stale, and serves just to add an extra way to gain EXP for your monsters really by hiding treasures for your to collect, but since everyone places them outside the stations you can quickly grab a few thousand exp points easily, another stupid aspect of the game is your base can be attacked and your treasures stolen from the platforms, so it really doesn't make sense to have your most valuable treasures on display which could be raided and stolen over something trivial in value.

I would love to recommend this game as I have been a Dragon Quest fan for 30 years or so but I can't.

    Gameplay:
The game establishes it's gameplay loop within the first 3 hours or so and it doesn't change at all for the rest of the game which can be completed relatively quickly (12-20 hours or so) if you focus only on the story. The side content isn't much better as it's basically the same thing as the main story just off in different directions.

In a nutshell: It's not very deep, the story isn't very good, and there aren't a lot of monsters to collect.

    Graphics:

The switch isn't a powerhouse when it comes to graphics and DQT suffers. Textures are flat, colors are dull and blurry and enemies pop-in frequently.

    Story:

    Lackluster.

I realy dig this game but there is to much exposition. The first 3 hours you spend more time reading than playing and it's frustrating. You will find a monster with a quest to pop ballons and instead on a sentence or two saying " pop ballons , you will get a prize" there in pages and pages if mindless gringey waffle and it goes against the games style. That aside is a big buet fun game.

Now, let's talk about the severe cons.
    1. the battle mechanic is too shallow. limited combos, limited monster command, cannot control monster.
    2. You can control Erik and Mia but they are physically weak and die from 2-3 hits if unlucky. So, you cannot risk doing close combat and just shooting from afar.
    3. The monster roaster is very limited. There are much fewer monsters in the game than even the first dragon quest monster. Then they increase the number by palette swap. I think they were lazy to do animation.
    4. the game forces you to track back very often to take the treasure back.
    5. the very unnecessary and annoying system that your monster can drop and lose treasures both randomly and conditionally.
    6. very limited ability customization. You can only equip monster coins and they just increase stats or status ailment chance

The game ideas are ok but lack polishing. If you are not a die-hard fans of the series, I would not recommend it

    아쉬웠던점은 몬스터의 종류가 적었던점 입니다.

As an entry level experience in the Dragon Quest universe, Treasures does a lot of things right. It nails the treasure hunting mechanic and provides plenty of nostalgia through it’s audio, visuals, and monster collecting action. Some variety in the main gameplay loop and a little more depth throughout would go a long way towards creating a more worthy feeling entry in the series, but there’s still a lot to love here. Hopefully we’ll get a sequel that can build on some of the mechanics. In the interim, fans of Dragon Quest who don’t mind a walk in the park now and then should check this one out.

Grab your spade, your flying pig and your pirate hat: it's treasure hunting time in Dragon Quest Treasures. There is some fine loot to claim, though not all that glitters is gold. Our conclusion: Treasures mainly is a good introduction to the series for somewhat younger or less experienced gamers.

Dragon Quest Treasures is a new challenge for this long-running series. It is full of Dragon Quest’s unique charm and delivers a wonderful experience that lasts for many hours. However, altogether the experience feels a bit too shallow. Deeper character development and more monsters could have gone a long here. Still, as a more compact game, Dragon Quest Treasures is a great open world to casually have some fun in.
