In a world enshrouded by darkness, deep inside a factory, the light of hope still shines.

ElecHead has you play as Elec, a small robot on a mission to bring light back to the world.

When Elec touches walls, floors, platforms, switches, and more, he makes electricity run through them, activating them.

He can also detach and throw his head to trigger things remotely, but be careful: if he doesn't get his head back within ten seconds, he will shut down.

Elec will have to use his head, literally and figuratively, to find a way out of the trap-ridden factory.

    ElecHead is a spectacularly simple, immensely engaging puzzler and platformer. [Issue #63 – January/February 2023, p. 20]

ElecHead is so simple and intuitive looking that you won't even need a tutorial to start playing and enjoying the game right away. Nama Takahashi's game can be finished in a single session and doesn't excel in replayability due to it being a puzzle platformer but you're going to be entertained by every moment of it while traveling through its brilliant level design. If you're looking for an experience that will make you remember why you love gaming then not giving ElecHead a chance would really be a crime.

ElecHead is a puzzle game as short as it is charming. If you're looking for a brief, retro-looking experience to think about for a while, we strongly recommend it. If we have to look for a downside, it is that it leaves us wanting more.

A great chiptune soundtrack courtesy of Tsuyomi caps things off; it perfectly encapsulates that quiet, isolated feeling, while knowing the perfect time to ramp things up. While the game doesn’t last long (clocking in at around two hours), it uses every second wisely and never outstays its welcome, even if you are left wanting a bit more.

If you think puzzle games aren’t for you, give this one a chance. It’s got just a couple buttons to remember and you can finish it in an evening. Although, I came back to find every secret just to relish every moment in its meticulously designed world. By the end I was craving more, which imo is a better feeling than a game that I couldn’t wait to end, even if it was a game I overall enjoyed. Expand
