Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered brings back a beloved GameCube classic for a new generation, and while the game is virtually the same, new additions to the core experience make for an amazing remaster.

The Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition does not reach the level of an MMO or Monster Hunter World, but it offers an adventure unique in the series. Playing in the company of your friends is the best way to experience this job. However, if your acquaintances aren't interested, I think you'd better keep raising money for another game.

This remaster offers a good experience in everything as far as the game itself is concerned. Unfortunately, many of its mechanics have become somewhat outdated and can become repetitive for those who didn't enjoy it on Game Cube. The multiplayer mode is also missed.

Whereas the original rewarded players for bringing friends, this version is frustrating and downright inconvenient if you want to enjoy it with others. It’s sad because Crystal Chronicles is still a fun game with a deep story and interesting mechanics, one which I truly wanted to enjoy again. Perhaps when we can meet in person, my old party can hang out and play through a couple of raids. Maybe meeting in person really is the only way this game can be fun. As it is right now, with social distancing and self-quarantining being the norm in the United States, I can’t recommend this title.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered recreates the original's flaws, and like before, it's best enjoyed as a multiplayer-only game.

The original was hardly viewed as a classic even at the time and while a lot of work has gone into this remaster it can’t hide the game’s intrinsic shallowness and repetition.

The biggest problem I had with the original was not having people to play with and with this version I have always had a party of 3 or 4 running through a dungeon. It's great in my opinion. This is not a modern new game, it's a port from 2004 and they added a few nice things to it, so there are cutscenes that seem pointless but are there to add character cause that's what this game is. I'm honestly having a better time with this game now than in 2004 when I beat the game solo (cause that's all I had after a couple weeks after release). Expand

Online multiplayer is not a sufficient compromise as the progress made by the host isn't shared with the player who joined. Anyone who played the original remembers how much of a nightmare local multiplayer was because of the required gba to gamecube adapter, but that would've been preferable to the product we're now presented with. No character progress for other players, no experiencing the story mode with other players, no local co-op option, no ability to level multiple professions at once anymore...the list goes on. I’m so angry and disappointed I didn’t read the reviews beforehand! If the emphasis of your remaster is in multi-player features, why implement it in a way that just breaks what the game even was in the first place? I’d honestly rather just have the local co-op instead of this half hearted online cross platform option if it had to be one or the other—and with no way to refund the purchase, it’s my loss. I really hope SE chooses to update this edition and add back the local multiplayer option. Expand

No couch co-op, plain and simple. Was super looking forward to playing this with my wife, not about to buy another switch just for this game.

    First Ever Game Review:

Multiplayer was why my 4 friends bought this game. Guess who doesn’t want to run dungeons 4 times in a row? The caravan experience doesn’t exist. I didn’t need voice acting or any changes to mechanics. I just wanted modern remote couch co-op where I can experience the entire game with friends start to finish like the old days.

Just another reason to look up reviews and wait to buy games until some other sucker gets shafted like we did. I’ll probably never play the new version I am stuck with. Bye bye 30$.
