The gameplay was kept interesting and entertaining throughout, with every boss fight feeling fresh and none of them feeling like repeats.

As an example of boss fights at their finest, Furi is a great game. And when it was over, I felt like I’d achieved something, even on easy mode. I suppose the reason I’m a little disappointed in the game is that it left me wanting more and that’s a good thing. Furi is out today, January 11th, on Nintendo Switch. If you’ve yet to play it elsewhere and love the premise, give it a look.

It has been ace playing Furi on the Switch and while the port isn’t perfect, Furi on Switch is a great way to experience the game.

It's a good port with the same experience. Nice music, fantastic art design and throbbing gameplay. The walking simulator part is the only bad thing within the game.

Furi's series of dauntingly challenging boss fights are capable of turning all but the most committed of player into a gibbering wreck. It's a deceptively clever game that combines shooter and and beat-'em-up mechanics, all wrapped up in a stylish anime-influenced shell. It's not for everyone, with numerous difficulty spikes and an over-reliance on repetition. But it's refreshing to see a game rewards patient observation and persistence, as well as mastery of a carefully calibrated control system.

If you want a minimalist, reaction-based action game with style and a kick-ass soundtrack, go for it. If like me you equate playing a game to reading a good book, then it's definitely not for you.

    Amazing game
It's very hard but fair, which is good since bosses are the only thing in the game.
The walking parts are just the right length

The walking parts are just the right length for a cool down and great build up for the next fight
Bosses are pretty much all extremely creative
The soundtrack is amazing and I listen to it even after beating the game
The story is simple and cryptic in the beginning but the ending is very rewarding and emotional
Very worth it for the price

its a great port, those saying it has worse music or frame drops than other version either havent analysed it properly or are spouting othersits a great port, those saying it has worse music or frame drops than other version either havent analysed it properly or are spouting others opinions (theres one review on youtube that recorded the audio with issues, the actual game doesnt have audio issues at all... & the developers themselves stated furi on switch runs at a very similar frame rate to the ps4 version, which is close to but not locked at 60fps) the only real difference is the switch version is portable which could be a huge bonus if you want that & it has slightly blurry textures compared to xbox one & ps4, but the difference is minimal you can see this in online comparisons.

the reviewer below saying the frame rate drops below 20-30fps is lying as far as im concerned, ive not seen that and neither has any other reviewer shown that to be the case so far.

I love this game but I do recommend playing it on PC for stable 60 FPS.
I bought it on Switch for the replay value after playing it on PC and I play only on handheld mode.

It does have frequent FPS drops below 60, most of them don't drop below 30, but some do (final boss has noticeable moments) so be aware of that.
Sound quality seems on par with PC version so IDK what the other reviewer is saying.

In my opinion the FPS drops don't ruin the game but you will probably notice them and they may throw you off at rare times. That's why I'm giving it a 7 instead of 8-9.

Furi is a boss rush game with elements from bullet hell shooters and arcade fighting games.
It's overall a good game. Albeit a game with some issues.

The boss fights are challenging and interesting. The controls are quick to learn and hard to master. The music is amazing. So far so good.

But then there are also weird design decisions. For example you have to literally play a walking simulator between boss fights which is very boring and unskippable. It's mostly there to provide some downtime and present the story. But the story is just meh in my opinion.
Another issue for me was the "easy mode" of the game. Furi is a very hard game, which is perfectly fine. However this means that a number of players will need to play the easy mode to complete the game. And quite frankly the easy mode sucks. They basically just made the game easier by cutting out large parts of content and giving you a bunch of extra lives. The result just feels terrible to play. I'd much rather have seen an easy mode where maybe the enemies were a little slower so you have more time to react.
And last but not least the performance of the game is great in handheld mode but not so much in TV mode. I could really see the framerate drop once the screen got more busy.
All in all Furi is a good game that lacks a little bit of polish.
If they fixed the easy mode and performance issues and made the walking simulator parts skippable it would propably be a 9/10.
I should also note that the game is rather short (anywhere between 1 and 7 hours depending on your skill level). But that's ok in my opinion since the game is cheap and has a lot of replay value

Don't give the developer any more money. It only encourages them to make more garbage. The controls handle like terribly. Let me rephrase that. The controls occasionally handle. Maybe it was just my copy but commands wouldn't register or they would register drastically after I put them in. The commands would often drop mid-gameplay. I would be going in a certain direction, and then "poof" my commands were dropped. I used a variety of controllers, so it wasn't my joycon. If you want a hard game that makes you persevere, then play any of the Fromsoft games. Dark Souls 1 had some artificial difficulty but this game is on another level. It never feels consistent. Download the soundtrack and ignore it for the rest of your life. Expand
