The backdrops, too, are marvellous and the ancient Japanese feeling is matched perfectly with a slow and unsettling score. Whenever you are ambushed, this is quickly replaced with an adrenaline-inducing rush of beats, and you'll find yourself dragon-punching in rhythm to the music.

Kintaro's Revenge is a highly likable and fun game that adds something extra to the template of the forgotten genre, the sideways scrolling beat 'em up.
In a lot of ways, Gekido Advance: Kintaro's Revenge feels less like a commercial product and more like a fan-made tribute to the genre of 2D beat-'em-ups.

All around there's just too much repetition in this game. It's fun for half-an-hour tops and that's it.
