  • Summary: Crazy cultists. Cthulhu. A talking cat. Gibbous takes you on an expansive, traditionally animated, hand-painted adventure. Play as three protagonists and explore a lushly rendered Lovecraft-inspired world, unraveling ancient conspiracies. A comedy cosmic horror adventure made in Transylvania!

Gibbous – A Cthulhu Adventure injects a dry sense of humour into classic Lovecraftian horror and absorbs you into the mystery through a beautifully animated point-and-click story.

Of course, the game doesn’t look so incredible that it’s able to overcome being your standard adventure game fare — perhaps because, looks side, Gibbous is your standard adventure game fare. That’s great news if you’re a genre fan looking for another hit, but if you’re not already a fan, nothing here is likely to make you one.

The domination of point-and-click adventures has long passed, but the genre is far from dead as games like Gibbous show. It's not an instant classic, and it might not be the game to win skeptics of the genre over, but fans of both adventure games and Lovecraft will enjoy Gibbous, which is one of the better releases in either genre in recent years. However, for a genre that is named after an action exclusive to a computer mouse, playing on Switch is definitely the second-best option. For those who prefer to game on consoles over computers, however, Gibbous is certainly playable on the hybrid console.

Gibbous is a classic point and click adventure game born of clearly felt love for the genre and with hand drawn graphics. Taking from the bestGibbous is a classic point and click adventure game born of clearly felt love for the genre and with hand drawn graphics. Taking from the best practices of the classic comedy adventures like Monkey Island or Indiana Jones it delivers an engaging story spanning many diverse locations. As a fan of those and a token of appreciation to the author I’d love to rate it higher but too many shortcomings makes it hard. First of all despite being released recently it plays the same as aforementioned titles with all their encumbrances and tech-related limitations of their era. The gameplay is slow, any missclick will cost you time and it will feel as slog at times. Animations could be more fluid too. Riddles are not very hard and mostly logical - this is neither flaw nor strength, just worth mentioning. I loved the writing, 4th wall breaking and the dialogues. I hope the authors will keep making those games and improving as I’d love to see the genre’s revival. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The voice characters acting is very bad and everything is and characters drawn badly.
both protagonists did not like boring and cliché don't like it at all except the cat, really didn’t like the hay with the predatory fish, it was the most disgusting scene.
It was necessary to make the main character of that cult leader and not these stupid clichéd characters so it would be more interesting,
I hope he cult leader had a chance to survive.
