Gunbird is a lot of fun, both in its gameplay and the use of a wacky cast of characters. A single-credit mode similar to the Hi Score (with online leaderboard) one that features in Hamster's ACA Neo Geo/Arcade Archives series would have been a good inclusion, but the game is still very replayable. The co-operative/competitive two-player mode works particularly well, whether on the big screen or playing undocked in TATE mode. There's a good challenge with the default settings, and tweaking the options can make things easier if you'd like to see all the ways the story can play out. Gunbird is another great option for shmup-loving Switch owners.

Gunbird is a faithful port of a solid 90s shoot-em-up. Its fantastic range of difficulty levels means that most gamers will be suitably catered for, but there are undoubtedly stronger examples of the genre currently available on Switch.

Gunbird is an interesting game in its genre that is differentiated by presenting an odd group of characters instead of only controlling ships and furthermore by the introduction of a small story with dialogue between stages, something that gives it a certain appeal.

Gunbird is a classic arcade shoot 'em up that's full of fun times but that fun doesn't last long at all. Here's hoping Zerodiv release the superior sequel sometime soon.

Has an assortment of characters who all play very differently and a really beautiful art style. Zerodiv could do more with optimization for the Switch: in 2018 not having online leaderboards is just plain lazy. The game itself, though, can hardly be faulted and the lack of any online is partially made up for by giving the option to rotate the visuals 90 degrees to play vertically - either with a stand or with your TV turned on its side.. A great addition for any shmup fan. Expand
