May 5, 2020HyperParasite delivers an enjoyable, well-rounded roguelite experience on the Nintendo Switch. While it stumbles at times, the addictive gameplay, unapologetic 80’s references, and unique approach to the genre help dull the pain of its limited, sometimes-repetitive level design.

Apr 17, 2020My time spent with HyperParasite was a lot of fun. Aside from the difficulty at times, it was enjoyable to take over host bodies. Being able to take over people and use different abilities kept the game feeling fresh. HyperParasite is definitely worth the asking price of $17.99.

Apr 8, 2020Unfortunately, the graphics and overall presentation don’t hold up quite as well at the gameplay itself. The environments are nice enough and display an '80s aesthetic that works rather well, but the character models themselves lack detail, resulting in a bit of difficulty telling them apart during the more hectic moments. We also noticed some slowdown here and there, but thankfully this is minimal. If you’re not too fussed about detailed visuals, then HyperParasite will no doubt keep you hooked with its unique parasite gameplay mechanic and exciting gun-play.
-
Apr 6, 2020HyperParasite is an extremely difficult shooter / brawler but with a very good atmosphere. It may despair you because of dying again and again, but its battles are always fun thanks to the many characters you can control.
-
Apr 8, 2020Rogue-lite and bullet hell fans will both find something to enjoy about HyperParasite, a retro 80's-themed bullet hell roiling over with mean streets and terrible hairdos.
-
Apr 16, 2020HyperParasite is a solid roguelite with some good ideas and also some flaws. Even so, it’s an interesting title for those who like the genre, particularly in coop.
-
May 8, 2020Hyperparasite leans heavily on its setting to stand-out from other top-down shooters, and in that sense, it succeeds in having a great, dark, B-movie tone that feels distinct and engaging. There’s a real variety to the different host bodies you vulture off-of, which would provide a great flow of hoping from body-to-body if some of them didn’t just feel like they will set you behind by doing so. If you have a craving for a twin-stick shooter that’ll keep you engaged for a while with an interesting premise, Hyperparasite can provide some brief fun, but be prepared for some grind to unlock new flesh suits and a better experience on the TV.
