All JOJOs Unite! Fight for Your Destiny!

Jonathan Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, DIO, Jolyne Cujoh, and other characters from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure gather across multiple generations! With 50 playable characters from all arcs, you can experience popular battles from each story, and see characters from different universes interact for the first time!

This title is based on the All Star Battle fighting system that was released in 2012. The game design of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R reinvigorates the experience with adjustments to the fighting tempo and the addition of hit stops and jump dashes.

With new audio recordings from the Part 6 anime voice actors, the full atmosphere of the animated series is realized. Both fans who have played the original All Star Battle and newcomers will be able to enjoy the experience.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R on Nintendo Switch is a mostly great port, but one that is lacking when it comes to online stability compared to other platforms. With smart changes to the environments, the developers have done a fine job with making it look good on Nintendo's hybrid system. If you're after a content-packed anime fighter, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R is well worth your time.

While you won't find an Evo-calibre fighting game here depth-wise, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R is miles ahead of your typical 3D-arena anime fighter affair. It would be a hard game to recommend to someone unfamiliar with the franchise, as without the fan service aspect you’re left with a basic fighter with some barebones modes. However, for those who adore JoJo, it’s an excellent example of how to do fan service right, and one where you can feel the love and adoration of the franchise's 35-year history flowing through every part of the package.

If you mean to seriously get into JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R, you’re probably better off heading over to one of the other platforms where it runs at 60 fps. This Switch port is solid enough to play, however, and JoJo fans will likely have a good time with it. Discriminating fighting game aficionados will probably want to look elsewhere for their Switch satisfaction, though.

With its fan-service and multiple references, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle R is above all dedicated to the community keen on the work of Hirohiko Araki. A pampered remaster of the eponymous title from the PlayStation 3 toy library, it offers an impressive cast and gameplay that is as technical as it is dynamic. If the balance of forces is not optimal (some characters are much more powerful than others), CyberConnect2's game has enough assets to convince fighting enthusiasts. Provided you know the manga or anime. Otherwise, Battle R may be far too hermetic for neophytes and non-connoisseurs of manga.

This is an experience tailored solely for rabid JoJo fans and no one else. On the bright side, it makes for a perfect excuse to finally hop aboard the JoJo train! Only after emerging from that rabbit hole can you enjoy All-Star Battle R for what it is. [Issue #62 – November/December 2022, p. 73]

You have a plethora of characters ranging from Parts 1 (Phantom Blood) all the way to Part 8 (JoJolion), and the same amount to select when choosing your assists. Though I am a bit sad that some parts feel under represented, it is fairly easy to pick up your favorite characters and start training to pull off your own unique combo! Though I'm not likely to purchase any upcoming DLC from the on-going season pass, I'm excited to see what the future holds for this game. Expand

I think the network problem is overlapped with the problem of Nintendo Switch itself. But I think JOJO ASBR has fixed the drawbacks of Vanila ASB, but CC2 has to take more care of the balance problem, based by Diavolo and Risotto Nero, etc. Expand

That's not to say you won't get any enjoyment out of it if you've never watched the anime or read the manga, but its core audience will be the only ones that will enjoy this game. While the fan service and combat are really top-notch, it struggles from a lackluster single player offering and a pitiful online experience. Expand

MK11 has 60 FPS in battles, Dragon Ball FighterZ has a dynamic resolution which shrinks when there's tons of lasers and stuff on screen and it still manages to look great, so it baffles me that they didn't do this trick here. For a fighting game 60 FPS is a must and it's a damn shame such a fun game is barely playable on Switch. Expand
