A cohesive and complementary blend of point-and-click adventure and 2D platformer, Lair of the Clockwork God is a real rib tickler that’s capable of delivering real emotion when it aims to. This is Ben & Dan’s magnum opus and one of the most essential games of 2020.

Lair of the Clockwork God is a welcome trip off the beaten path, filled with stellar comedy and a wealth of lighthearted, enjoyable puzzles. The sum is greater than its parts, as I can easily poke holes in the platforming, but that total is still filled with goofy fun. Check out Clockwork God if you want to laugh a lot while controlling two adversarial pals in a quest to, I guess, save the world from certain dooms.

Lair of the Clockwork God is a joyously nonsensical adventure filled with sharp wit and an eclectic mix of challenges. As a merging of two genres (platformer and point ‘n’ click adventure), it mostly succeeds. Are you game for a laugh?

Honest, brash writing, great art direction, cohesive design and a level of self-awareness I haven't seen before from a dev-studio. This is what makes indie gaming such a special thing. Full Review »

There's a nice story too although it can be obvious at times where things are going in the narrative.
As a point and click adventure I think it works really well but some puzzles can be a bit too confusing. As a platformer it's fun but it can feel frustrating on occasion. Overall I enjoyed my experience with it. Definitely worth a look for fans of platformers and point and click adventures.
