Mega Man is back in his best entry in over a decade. The controls are tight, the quality of life changes such as button mapping Rush Coil, Rush Jet, and sliding are more than welcome, and the Double Gear system becomes second nature quickly. While the main game may seem short, and a lack of fan-favorite characters is disappointing, Mega Man 11 shines in everything it does include. This truly is the triumphant return of the Blue Bomber.

Some might bemoan the art direction, but I walked away from Mega Man 11 very, very impressed. It’s a particularly stunning achievement given the amount of time that has passed since the last game and Inafune’s lack of involvement. This is one of the marquee releases on Nintendo Switch and I sincerely hope that all of you reading this give it some serious consideration for a purchase. Capcom has created the perfect foundation upon which to keep building Blue Bomber sequels and I hope that the next one comes a lot sooner than eight years from now!

Mega Man 11 not only marks a return to form for the franchise, it serves as a natural evolution of Mega Man's foundation, finally allowing the series to progress into the next generation. On an aesthetic and gameplay level, the series has taken some much needed, and welcome, steps. The art style has an appropriate level of charm and polish, while still evoking a more old school aesthetic, while the new Double Gear system pairs wonderfully with the platformer's tight level design. Mega Man 11 is a magnificent blend of old and new, honouring what came before, while never forgetting to look towards the future.

The stages are beautifully designed, the music stands in serious competition with the best of the series, and the gameplay as a whole is an absolute joy to interact with.

Mega Man 11 is an excellent resurgence for the Blue Bomber, imbuing the tried-and-true classic gameplay with modern touches and new ideas that expand on existing concepts in interesting ways. The underlying action platforming gameplay is just as tight and challenging as you remember, and when combined with the new visuals and extra options for replayability, you’ve got a game that’s every bit as good as those that came before, while surpassing them in some ways. Mega Man 11 is a modern classic, a fitting refresh for a beloved series.

At the end of the day, Mega Man diehards would be buying this game regardless of the reviews. It comes as a joy, then, that the game is incredible and worth the purchase for more than just the series’ history.

While Mega Man 11 isn't a perfect game, it's certainly a fun one, and it establishes a solid foundation for the Blue Bomber going forward. [Issue #36 – November/December 2018, p. 80]

After a few years with Mega Man collections we finally get to play a new Mega Man game. And it was worth the wait. Mega Man 11 modernises but also keeps in touch with its roots. It makes Mega Man attractive for fans and newcomers.

The old-school gameplay will please fans, and the new mechanics will offer players (both old and new) a challenging experience. Despite having a repetitive story like the rest of the franchise, Mega Man 11 is everything I’ve wanted from the Blue Bomber and Capcom for the last few years.

Mega Man 11 is a precise, colorful and rewarding platform game.

Capcom has been able to revive the saga in the best possible way, with a good game that maintains its essence but that provides enough innovation to make Mega Man 11 an entertaining, fun and replayable game. In addition, it is suitable for all types of players thanks to its multiple levels of difficulty and good controls.
  12. While Mega Man 11 absolutely sticks with the same familiar fundamentals and plays just like the games of old, it also represents the biggest modernisation attempt the series has seen in decades, with a fresh style and new mechanics. There's room for improvement, but bringing this icon of the '80s back in such a convincing fashion is quite an achievement.

Mega Man 11 is a brilliant return to the series after a painfully lengthy break. Visual and audio mishaps aside, it introduces an engaging new gameplay mechanic whilst staying true to the core formula that fans of the series come to expect.

To celebrate its late 30th birthday, the Blue Bomber comes back with a strong 11th episode which finally takes some risks. The brand new Double Gear System breezes a fresh wind on the still satisfying classic mechanics of the series. With twisted boss fights and four very well-though difficulty modes, only the very meh soundtracks might deter you from calling back this old pal.

Mega Man 11 is a good open door for all kinds of players. Newcomers will enjoy its fair challenge, while long-time fans will have their hearts beating at all the good new mechanics and nice visuals.

It’s safe to say that if the gods of gaming are indeed good, then we should expect to see further installments in this longstanding staple of action/platforming entertainment.
  17. Oct 1, 2018
Mega Man 11 doesn’t have to change video games, though, and it doesn’t have to inspire a new legion of followers. It just has to be as honest and good as it is.
  18. Oct 1, 2018
The new features of the gameplay add a further layer of depth to the mechanics of the previous chapters, without affecting the difficulty too much.
  19. Oct 1, 2018
As short as it may be, Mega Man 11 is faithful to the original material and offers a very customizable nostalgia trip with colorful but somewhat bland visuals and very interesting although controversial design choices.
  20. Oct 1, 2018
While some aspects of the game's presentation are surprisingly lackluster for the lauded series' triumphant return, Mega Man 11 still provides the satisfying and well-designed platforming that put Capcom on the map in the 80s.

Mega Man 11 arrives as part of 30th anniversary celebration of the series breaking up from the classic gameplay and 8-bit style and finally offering something new to the mix. Mega Man 11 is in many ways a crossover between the main series and the X one. The brand new double gear system opens the door to new gameplay styles and it feels very enjoyable. Even die-hard fans will have a tough time with this new chapter, and newcomers will be happy to find easier difficulty settings…maybe too much easy. Challenges and time-attack modes offer lots of repeatability, though soundtrack is not very memorable.

Despite the new graphics, this is a classic Mega Man, with all its pros and cons. It's a clever and challenging game. The normal difficulty will give you the NES era brand of frustration and accomplishment, whereas the easy mode (which is definitely not too easy) presents a challenge suitable for people who don't have so much time on their hands.

With Mega Man 11, Capcom is catering to new players and hardened veterans, and satisfies both to a degree, but it will likely disappoint some players, too. It might not be the Mega Man game we need, but on October 2 it will be the one we get.

It's not revolutionary, but Mega Man 11 feels almost like a classic Mega Man game, and is a good foundation for the next 10 games.
  25. Oct 16, 2018
Mega Man 11 doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but for this fan of the franchise, that’s not the worst thing. While it could have used more innovation and better boss battles, the core gameplay remains as enjoyable as ever. For long-suffering fans of the series, it’s nice just to have something new to jump into.
  26. Oct 1, 2018
Mega Man 11 is a good action game that you can easily identify with, but it's far too uneven and bumpy to hold up against some of the best installments in the venerable franchise.

A Mega Man sequel that, despite its flash new looks and newb-friendly approach, conservatively touts the same formula Capcom has been using these past 30 years.

Capcom's iconic action hero returns in an adventure that maintains the trademark brutal challenge while finding a way in for newcomers. [Eurogamer Recommended]
  2. Oct 1, 2018
Mega Man 11 isn’t a surprising sequel, but it is a respectful one. Capcom has stuck to its well-worn formula, giving a once-great series deserved care and attention, while wisely shying away from retro kitsch this time. Mega Man 11 is a franchise hitting its mark again, and, better still, an investment in the future of the series.

It has smooth game play and I played it from start to finish in one sitting. The soundtrack is great with a few that are very memorable. I really liked the art style and it brought the cartoony theme forward. The boss's weaknesses are intuitive and playing with the weapons makes the game so much fun. The only downside to the game is that it goes by so quick, however this is to be expected. On my first play through(on super hero mode), it took me 4 hours to beat. The game's replayabiity is high and I look forward for more play throughs. I would recommend this game for any avid mega man fan and anyone that loves platformers. Full Review »

As a long time fan of the Mega Man series, I was very excited for the announcement of this game. I was also very nervous it would be trash.
