    Mini Motor Racing X is a title that tries to be nothing but a whole lot of fast-paced fun and accomplishes that with flying colors.

    The clue is in the name... This is a neat, small funracer with slight balancing problems and a rather lackluster weapon implementation.

    After sinking several hours, I can say that Mini Motor Racing X is pretty fun. From seemingly small options to many extras, it offers a lot. While I wonder if it’ll prove a memorable racer when compared to many, I suspect it’s a game I’ll keep downloaded to revisit for short spells now and again.

    While I wish the extra modes were better and that the levels were more consistent, Mini Motor Racing X has earned an ongoing spot on my Switch. Even its longer levels only take a few minutes, making it an ideal game to jump in and out of for just a few minutes. The core racing feels great, I truly can’t remember the last time I enjoyed an overhead arcade racer so much. There are a lot of good racing games on the Switch, but none of them scratches quite the same itch that this one does. As long as you go into it knowing what to expect, I think you’ll have a great time.

    We love a good arcade racing game, and in many ways Mini Motor Racing X delivers thrills in spades; it’s a reasonably fast, responsive experience with loads of vehicles and tracks to try out. Ultimately, though, there’s just nothing here that really stands out; nothing to tear you away from Mario Kart 8 or Rocket League. It’s quite content with being an entertaining alternative, and if you’re happy with that, then you’ll have a good time.

    Mini Motor Racing X runs smoothly, and for the first couple of hours it was enjoyable enough. However, the novelty wears off quickly and the whole thing soon becomes a slog — the career mode could be cut in half and the experience would be better for it. As it stands, there’s too much padding and not enough substance to keep me coming back for more.

There is a nice range of vehicles to drive and unlock and there are plenty of different themed tracks and variable driving conditions for each. The courses are very short and compact which means races only last a couple of minutes (a bonus in my opinion). There are also lots of ways to customise your experience to suit your preferences and ability. I highly recommend this to 'casual' gamers!… Expand
