An improvement in every way to the last game, My Hero One’s Justice 2 is a wonderful title for fans of My Hero Academia. With an improved roster and enhanced gameplay, it’s time to go Plus Ultra with this fighting game at last.

Make no mistake, My Hero One's Justice 2 is a good, fun arena brawler on its own merits. Taken on its own, the game really does provide an amazing adaptation of the My Hero Academia franchise. The look is spot on, the expanded character roster is a treat, and the incremental changes the developers made really do make a difference, even if they're hard to see sometimes.

My Hero One’s Justice 2 is still a simple, direct and fun proposal. A good fighting game that improves some aspects compared to the first game, but that is still improvable. Its game modes, its content to be unlocked and its online mode make it a highly replayable title.

Byking comes back to My Hero Academia for round 2, with a surprisingly quick turnaround. There's nothing dramatically new, having more to do with gameplay tweaks to add depth and fix problems. You'll need both games for the whole story, but as a party-friendly anime fighter, My Hero One's Justice 2 is a clear upgrade.

While it inherits many of the problems that made the first game feel quite insubstantial, My Hero One’s Justice 2 is a still a notable step forwards thanks to the introduction of new modes and a far meatier story mode. The action can still be a little messy and it lacks the precision offered by many other anime-inspired fighters, but with over 40 characters from the canon to choose from, an impressively deep customisation system and a constant stream of rewards, this is a still an authentic tribute to the series that My Hero Academia fans will get the most kicks from. Fighting game aficionados will probably go elsewhere, but for those looking for a fun and mostly chaotic fighter will find an enjoyable experience here.

If you’re a fan of My Hero Academia, you’ll enjoy My Hero One’s Justice 2. It brings your favorite characters to life and gives you the opportunity to pit them against each other in a solid fighting arena experience. But for the rest of us, this is a pretty lackluster brawler that looks and plays a lot like other games we’ve seen. What it does, it does competently, but My Hero One’s Justice 2 has a long way to go before it can claim the King of Fighters title.

My Hero One’s Justice 2 feels less like a sequel and more like an obligation - and that’s when it actually works. With the first game’s roster already a bit out of date by the time it launched, there was an obvious need to expand the lineup with characters from later in the show’s run. The roster now stands at around 40 fighters featuring characters through the end of the Shie Hassaikai arc in the fourth season of the anime. If you were really concerned with having the latest heroes and villains to play with in the arena, then I suppose your prayers have been answered. For anyone else, My Hero One’s Justice was already a tough sell, and now that I can’t even get past the title screen without the game freezing I cannot recommend this lazy sequel at all.

A lil bit of stuttering here and there framerate-wise (nothing game breaking). Character balancing is a MAJOR problem because there are some things that are way too spammable and had little to no drawbacks to them (I'm looking at you 100% Deku, you cheap *beep beep beep beep*). There needs to be some balance changes for the spamming and the cheap crap that some characters can pull off. Imagine trying to block 100% Deku's special that has homing and does a crap load of shield damage and holds you there and then here comes his unblockable attack that can hit you from half the stage away. Or say you dodge the special, you can't block the unblockable attack or his super armor aerial that ignores your super armor attack and takes priority, which, if you were still blocking, will be broken from those attacks or the flurry of punches that go on for too long that follows. I want to enjoy this game, but stuff like that makes it so hard to do; and that's just one character. This game needs optimization to reduce frame stuttering, but balancing out the spammy and cheap stuff would make this game a lot more fun. Overall, I wasn't so keen on the first game because it looked a bit too floaty, but decided that I'd try this one because I still found the game interesting, and I generally wasn't disappointed, but the game needs balancing. If you like arena brawlers, this isn't a bad buy. It's more fun than you'd expect, but frustrating because of how unbalanced some characters are. Expand

BUT they made dash canceling tied to the bar so now its takes more finesse to do combos. unfortunately that also means if u want to do longer combos u might as well on turn the auto combos because of how much bar it takes to dash cancel and u dont earn enough of it back fast enough to keep up with a dash cancel heavy playstyle that I learned in mhoj1. Some characters had their command grabschanged from unblockable to blockable which pretty much killed my favorite character i forgot his name but he is the one with the engines in his legs which isn't that bad on its own but his guard break move also leaves him heavily exposed to the point where I could do it first and get beat out by a lot of other attacks it's gotten to the point where I just dont do it because I'm scared of how they can counter it. And I straight up hate toga her knife toss is to easy my brother just spams it every time u get close because it's so fast your almost always gonna get hit and I know I play with one of the fastest characters in the game and even dashing around him at close range doesn't work. Honestly I love the game but I'm just gonna stick with my hero 1 maybe they will change it maybe they won't idc I still like the game. Expand
