Ori and Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch and is a must-own. It’s an exceptional Metroidvania that successfully blends elements of the platforming genre to create an experience unlike any other. With beautiful visuals, an imaginative setting, flawless gameplay, charming characters, powerful soundtrack, and an emotional narrative, Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is one of the best games in the Nintendo Switch software library.

Four years after its original release, Ori and the Blind Forest is still the same gem, but this time on Nintendo Switch. It has great controls and music, and it’s still one of the most beautiful games of this generation.

This is just the same wonderful game that was first released in 2015, and it's delightful to see it given a new lease of life on Nintendo Switch.

An independent ray of light in a dark forest full of triple-A projects. Inspired, hard and charming: this is one of the titles you must play… now on Nintendo Switch.

Sometimes there are games that go beyond a simple experience, games that conquer our hearts forever and Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is one of them. It is simply masterful, with a beautiful artistic style, extraordinary gameplay and many challenges. Another essential game on Nintendo Switch.

Ori and the Blind Forest is one of those games everyone should play, and the Switch version is another fantastic opportunity to do so. A fantastic version of a fantastic game.

Ori on Switch still is a brilliant exploration platformer with constant challenges and an incredible soundtrack that it was for its premiere a few years. Visually it might not be as shiny as the original but Ori makes up for that with improved balance finetuning, among other things.

What we have here is a flawless port of a game which absolutely deserves all of the praise it has received. From start to finish, Ori and the Blind Forest is a real joy to play. Challenging yet never feeling unfair or discouraging, and almost relaxing to control. The mesmerising art style and musical score are the icing on the cake that makes the player actually care about the protagonist and want to keep playing to the game’s conclusion. It is a bit of a surprise to see this game make its way to the Nintendo Switch, but we’re glad that it has. The only shame is that the sequel seems unlikely to make the same journey, but this original outing is still an unmissable experience.

The end result is a game that is phenomenal in its presentation and very decent in gameplay. Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition doesn't necessarily set a new standard or innovate within the Metroidvania genre, but it does create an experience that is elevated by its otherwise stellar production values. Ultimately, it's up to personal preference, but you should give the game a chance; you'd likely regret it otherwise.

Ori and the Blind Forest remains delightful on Switch in 2019 with a near-flawless port of one of the most beautiful games made in recent years. Playing this in handheld is an absolute treat.

It’s not perfect, but Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is one of those games that everyone should play at least once. Its combat can be a little frustrating at times, as well as its platforming, but by making effective use of the Soul Link system they don’t have to put an end to your fun.

While I could pick apart some specific nagging problems in Ori and the Blind Forest, whether it’s the combat or tiny platforming problems, my lasting memory of this recent replay and my previous Xbox One playthrough a few years ago is just the high moments. The bliss of exploring this world, combined with the deft storytelling and dazzling artwork, make for an enthralling adventure that stands tall as one of the modern classics of the Metroid-esque genre.

Though we’ve seen far more ambitious entries in the genre over the past year or two, Ori elevates itself by doing the basics very well and wrapping them in an emotional experience brought to life by stunning visuals and a wonderful soundtrack. If you missed out the first time around, here’s another chance to dive into the captivating world of Ori and the Blind Forest, and just in time before the sequel arrives early next year.

Gorgeous visuals and some sublime visual storytelling, Ori And The Blind Forest might not do much that is genuinely new but almost everything it does attempt is genuinely great.
