A fantastic puzzle game that is almost perfect on the Nintendo Switch.

If you're looking for a good puzzle game for your Switch, this should definitely be your first stop. Most of the puzzles are bite-sized and easy to stop when you're on the go, but it's also meaty with so many puzzles (over 150 and double that if you count the Megas) that it can easily eat up hours of your time. While I miss the simplicity of the touch controls, it's a small quibble when there's still so much to be enjoyed from this game.

Even with no major changes and some minor issues, Picross S is a satisfactory, affordable puzzle game. Not much else needs to be said.

Picross S still manages to entertain with the ultra solid nonogram formula, but overall it feels like a lazy project for newcomers that will probably disappoint the old fans of the franchise.

Picross S is a fully recommended title for anyone who doesn't own a Nintendo 3DS after some puzzling action to play on the go, which is the preferred way to play this type of game. Whilst lacking the superior touch controls of the 3DS versions, this one does add an array of great assist options and throws a multiplayer twist into the format. Compared to what the long-running Picross e games provide, though, offering just two modes and Mega Picross being slightly adjusted Picross puzzles is unfortunate. For the budget price, 300 puzzles is excellent value, especially if this is one of your first dabbles into the series, but there is no question that more could have been added here. If you have a 3DS, it would be better to stick to the Picross fun on that system.

The gameplay remains intact and unchanged but the lack of support for the touch screen and screen pointers for the television screen make the interaction less involving, while keeping the screen the same size as its 3DS counterparts makes its direction difficult to understand.

Picross S is a lazy version of Picross that offers nothing new compared to the 3DS versions, doesn't use the Switch properly, offers the same pictures in its two modes and offers very little with the multiplayer mode. Better try it on 3DS.

I'm not sure why critics feel the need to knock this game so much as to give it an average score of 67. It's not a game for everyone, but if you like logic puzzles, you'll absolutely love this game. Even for those who aren't great at logic puzzles but still enjoy them or find them relaxing, there are assist options that you can play with if you want. For logic puzzle veterans, rest assured that there is still plenty of challenge in a lot of these puzzles.

i do agree that they could have added in touch controls for those who liked them on the 3DS games, but I actually find it much smoother and more enjoyable using the controller, anyways. It is also much prettier to look at than the 3DS games. While this is the Picross S game with the least content (compared to S2, S3, etc.), it is also the cheapest. Plus, it's hard to argue it's not worth the money when I got 60+ hours of enjoyable and relaxing gameplay for $8.

I never thought I'd play this over the other games I have on my Switch but I do a lot of the time.
Price tag might be intimidating for a simple "Sudoku-like" game but if you haven't tried it before, definitely do.

Why they didn't add touch controls is beyond me.

The Switch version looks nice but the game suffers by its lack of content. Only 150 puzzles and i'm pretty sure they are already used from older versions of Picross. Anyway it's great to have a Switch Version of Picross. I would love have now a Picross 3D on my Switch
