In fact, nothing about Pikuniku bothers me. It’s a happy, fun little game that needs to be enjoyed by everyone who owns a Switch, and the world is a better place with games like this in it.

Pikuniku is a fantastic adventure full of puzzles and exploration. It’s unexpectedly engaging, and even it’s only January, it already is one of our indies of the year.

While Pikuniku is a light experience, it's got enough charm and verve to stick with you well beyond completion. From Piku's weird wobbly gait and looping jumps in the opening right through to the game's funny, bizarre ending, Pikuniku is more gripping than its simple aesthetic and playful tone would suggest. It'll make you feel like a kid again.

Pikuniku is the perfect Sunday afternoon game; short, but sweet. It’s an enjoyable romp through a pleasant world, teaching the important life lesson that kicking things is often the simplest solution.

The story is surprisingly quick to blaze through as well, but there’s a lot to come across that the game doesn’t really seem to force on you, and Pikuniku’s world and gameplay is just memorable enough that this is a fun little title you may get more mileage out of than you’d expect.

Starting as a good joke, Pikuniku quietly evolves into a nice little game with a crazy story. Simple and rather good in everything it has to offer, it’s in some ways a good avenue to introduce kids to the metroidvania genre.

I don’t have a slightest clue who for and why was this game even made, but on the other hand I simply have to appreciate the big heart which was put in it. [03/2019, p.77]

The story mode of this game is filled with legitimately funny dialog, surprising moments and a cute, memorable art style, although the art style definitely isn't for everybody. Unfortunately for a lot of people, the gameplay in the story mode isn't particularly interesting, since there's a much larger focus on the story.

If you're looking for an engaging gameplay experience, however, there's also a co-op mode that you can play with a friend, where you solve puzzles and you can even play the incredible sport known as baskick, which is also part of the story mode. To be honest, though, this part of the game could benefit from more content.

As well as this, the game has pretty decent music and sound design, with some songs that I thought were extremely catchy and very interesting sound effects, like when Piku rolls and lightening.

Overall, I would recommend this game to anybody who enjoys more story driven games and humor, as well as people with friends, unlike me. To be honest, I haven't beaten the game yet, however, I love this game so much that I needed to give it praise as soon as possible. I give it a 9/10- you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't play this game.

Piku, the titular character, is a blob-like creature with extendable legs that allow you to jump, roll, and swing through the villages you will encounter. Each village has multiple trophies to find or unlock with mini-games discovered as Piku talks to villagers or finds hidden items. The fun in this game is found in its exploration and quirky humor, bad physics included.
I really enjoyed my time with Pikuniku, or The Blob Game, as my fiancé calls it. The entire time I played it I kept thinking that the game is just one big giant meme that is self-aware. At this point I am still not entirely sure what the hell I played, but it was a ton of fun despite the game’s shortcomings. First, the game is way too short. Even for completionists there is less than four hours of gameplay time in the main story. There are apparently co-op levels that can add to more game time, but I didn’t play these. Although I would highly recommend this game for new gamers, experienced players will find Pikuniku to be extremely easy. There is almost no difficulty in the platforming, puzzles, or boss fights. Even with the wonky physics that come about with playing as a blob with legs, the platforming is just too easy. Despite this major issue, I wouldn’t think many people would get bored with this game. The atmosphere provided by the environments, music, and slapstick comedy is just too charming to pass up. This indie game also runs perfectly in handheld mode and while docked. I didn’t face any audio issues, bugs, or glitches in my playthrough.
Pikuniku is a title that I can highly recommend, but just not at full MSRP of $12.99. Although the experience is worth it and this game is better than many titles at this same price, the run time of this game with limited replayability prevents me from saying go and buy it now. Pikuniku is good, but has not blown me away, so wait for another sale. The good news is that this title does tend to go on sale frequently.

It never takes itself too seriously, even though its story has ultimately more to say than the stories of many self-important games. It provides some mild challenge, but the challenge is not the point–the point is getting to know (and ultimately saving) its weird world.

Pikuniku doesn't aim unrealistically high, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. It's a small game, but one that I enjoyed playing.

I had fun playing this game, and I think it's basically the point of all this. It's stupid, absurd, cute and the universe work.

I really liked the humor and the art style. It's nice to see something simple and stupid being also of good quality. Of course it's far from perfect and having a more substantial story could have been nice (especially the ending, feels like it's more of a ''oh well whatever let's get back to our lives'' kinda feeling).

Making the missions worthwhile could have been nice too since at some point they was some stuff I didn't care about doing since I knew nothing would happen except ''You did the mission''. I want a little more than that. ;-)

Some music are really catchy and that was a good feeling.

For 5$ on e-shop sale, it's worth it. You're gonna have a funny 3-4h of play between bigger games that need all your focus and energy. And we need games like that too in our ecosystem !

Having agreed to help them out the villagers free Piku and it soon transpires that everything is not quite as idyllic as it first seems.

Pikuniku is puzzle platformer, that while pretty short and rarely all that challenging, offers plenty of humorous charm and a good mix of challenges and activities to participate in. At the time of writing it’s available for a measly 89p on the Switch and at that price it’s one of the best bargains you’ll find this year!
