While it may not be the first of its kind or groundbreaking, RemiLore brings the potential of even more to come in the future and starts in a great place that makes it well worth giving a try as it’s the perfect balance of challenge without being frustrating. RemiLore: Lost Girl in the Lands of Lore is a fun adventure with enjoyable dialogue and characters in addition to some great combat that makes it fun to replay again and again.
RemiLore is a fast-paced satisfying rogue-lite game with randomized level maps, fun hack-and-slash moves, and smooth controls. If the save mechanic was better, this would be a top-notch game.
I just do NOT understand the low user scores for RemiLore on switch...I really don’t!
The game is outstanding and can be described as kinda like Diablo 3 with a sweet tooth lol. It’s a top down/isometric hack n slash and the controls are SUPER tight! Like AAA caliber controls no joke. The ONLY thing I can think of that MAY lower the score is the annoying voice acting as there’s no way to change it from Japanese to English. I HIGHLY recommend this game to anyone who loves action RPGs and especially fans of hack n Slash games!!
Pros: nice art style and decent enough story, good rogue like/rpg game, unique weapons and power ups, different outfits, NG+ is actually worth it as it’s not just the same story (it is similar but the reason for refighting in the worlds is different and with a different character), and different modes
Cons: I always seemed to run low on health and could never find a HP orb, death means restarting the entire world, initial play through is quick (NG+ fixes this though)
Overall I enjoyed this game and I would recommend it to anyone. However, I would not recommend purchasing it at full price. It’s not worth it’s price unless it’s used. There’s just not a lot to the story mode and it can easily be beaten in a day. If you play normal story and NG+ you could still either beat it in a long day or a weekend. NG+ is worth it though because it’s the same worlds and mechs but from the other character’s point of view and has a different purpose as to why you are fighting with them. Also because of recent shady practices by publisher Nicalis, I would say it’s better to buy it used so they don’t get the money. Either that, or try to find some way to buy it that supports the creator but not Nicalis. I can’t say that I can ever recommend a Nicalis game anymore, because of a recent story that came out. However, if you still like a game they publish, just buy it used or through some other mean.
P.S. I have no problem with the people that work at Nicalis, but their owner is rude and doesn’t hold his end up to contracts. He also treats his people like they are POS.
RemiLore is not a bad game, it's more of a missed opportunity, because the gameplay loop feels familiar and funny just in small doses and there's a complete lack of innovations, enemy variety and customization.
Boasting a wonderful story that is sadly betrayed by repetitive gameplay and an unfair system in which dying means a huge loss of progress, RemiLore: Lost Girl in the Lands of Lore is only recommended if you’re serious about your dungeon crawling experiences.
RemiLore just doesn’t have enough variety to stay interesting for more than a few minutes. Though the characters are mildly entertaining with an impressive amount of dialogue to flesh out their interactions, there’s just too much you need to put up with to get to the good parts of the game. Rogue-lite and Action RPG are two crowded genres, and RemiLore unfortunately decided to tackle them both without covering even the basics of what makes either interesting in the first place.
Combine the uninspired enemies and level design with a checkpoint system that’s more than happy to erase half an hour of progress if you die midway through a run, and you’ll find that RemiLore becomes a game that’s more tedium than fun.
The quest in RemiLore: Lost Girl in the Lands of Lore is inconsequential, and the only reason why anyone would play this is to have a cute hack'n slash with the utter bare minimum of rogue elements. Bringing a friend along will help keep things interesting, but there is just not enough substance to keep most hooked. It is too easy, and one has to play very carelessly in order to feel the rush of walking that razor's edge that comes with the better rogue-likes.
This is a pretty straight-forward rogue-lite hack-n-slash.
Pros:
-Tight Controls
-Satisfying Gameplay
-Kid Friendly, from what I've seen. No blood or gore.
-Doesn't stray into pervy, like many anime-style games.
-Casual difficulty, even death is forgiving, as you loose progress, but not upgrades or weapons.
-Visually pleasing, lots of bright colors
-Lots of amusing, unusual weapons to pick up
Cons:
-Short
-Could stand to have some extras. More to do, customization options, etc.
-Price is a high. Hopefully there will be some free updates.
I know some people might view the casual difficulty as a con, but for me it's a pro. I don't really want every game to be hard. Sometimes I just want to relax and beat some things up, and this is a good game for it. I also didn't list repetitive as a con, as many people did. In Diablo, I hit buttons and kill stuff. In Binding of Isaac, I hit buttons and kill stuff. In Enter the Gungeon, I hit buttons and kill stuff. Seems silly to call a game like this repetitive. Of course it is. It's just a matter of whether you like hitting buttons and killing stuff in that particular game, and I like it in RemiLore.
Pretty much the most infuriating game of this genre I've seen and played.
This game has terrible upgrades. Only a few are actually desirable, so it pays off to NOT unlock things because you can't choose to use them, it just means they randomly pop up. So don't unlock the stupid powers.
Oh and fun fact you can't just straight up upgrade your health and stamina. The only way is an item that randomly upgrades or DOWNGRADES your hp. Yes that is right. You start at 100hp. But i went up to 120 from the upgrade item, and then I got several in a row that removed so much HP that I ended up with 90HP. YUP. So don't pick up those items because it might make the game harder.
Combat comes down to three things, dash, heavy hit and light hit. Sadly there are only like 3 combos too. So that means you get bored quick. What is that? You think different weapon types give you different and more interesting combos and tactics? NOPE. That would make sense.
Also dashing does nothing for you. Dead Cells is a fun game right? Know how dashes give you invincibility frames? Not in this game. You can end up face dashing into a flurry of bullets.
Story wise this game is decent. Nothing special. You are Remi, a random lazy school girl who gets transported by lore(a sentient encyclopedia of recipes) to a magical world of demon robots that have killed everyone made by the game's tsundere antagonist who dislikes Lore.
Don't waste your money. This wouldn't be a game I'd waste my quarters on if it were an arcade cabinet, and it is the worst part because it is just an arcade style game.
Run from this game. RUN!
Summary RemiLore is a "rogue-lite" anime style adventure set in a colorful world where players hack-and-slash their enemies and cast devastating magic attacks using Lore's special powers.
