A game as jam-packed as Rune Factory 5 runs the risk of being overwhelming, but each facet works in tandem with the others so seamlessly that it blurs the lines between where one element ends and another begins. It spaces out the infinite gameplay loop of farming sims with simple but enjoyable dungeon crawling and tosses in an endearing cast of characters for good measure. Despite how full the game is, it’s likely you won’t be able to get enough of it, as its enrapturing nature always leads into something else for you to do. Once you’ve settled into Rune Factory 5, you’re in it for the long haul.
Obviously, I'm not completely satisfied with everything—the relationship mechanics are essentially a gamble, now, and we're straight-up chugga-chugga-choo-chooin' through certain loading zones, but there's a reason that I played 130 hours of this game. At the end of the day, Rune Factory 5 is a fresh and enjoyable new entry to the series, and I really think that fans will come to love it just as much as they have every other title.

This game is so Addictive and fun it my mind. I never really got into these farming games. But after playing rune factory five i'm addicted to them. Its unfortunate that these type of games have a toxic fan base that nit pick up little things and wine about stuff that really doesn't even effectively The overall game. Are five progression systems and Leveling systems Have progressed through every new game to a point of being a masterpiece. If you have Any interest in this game? Give it a truly. That's good for the first few hours you might find your next favourite genre.

I think we may find in retrospect that this game became a fan-favorite — the initial performance issues, which can be fixed via patches, obscured initial impressions from seeing it is one of the best farming games of the modern era.

Rune Factory 5 is an ambitious entry in the series that does many things well, but one that suffers thanks to a plethora of technical and structural issues. Despite it building on Rune Factory 4 in some nice ways, Rune Factory 4 Special remains one of the best games in a very long time while Rune Factory 5 feels like it needed more time to reach its full potential.
Rune Factory 5 delivers a well-known experience that fans will enjoy, although its new 3D graphics sometimes can end up being a bit detrimental.
Rune Factory 5 is a refreshing farming RPG that should really appeal to fans of the niche genre…It may not be a perfect or highly innovative game, but Rune Factory 5 is definitely worth the time spent playing.
Long time fans of the series will feel at home with Rune Factory 5. It’s a well developed farming sim with lot of things to do and some well crafted jrpg elements. An intriguing story will let you meet some interesting characters, and even marry one of them. The problem is that the game is marred by some nasty technical issues that in some sens ruin overall experience. Low frame-rates, hitches, lags and stuttering are very frequent and some textures are rendered at very low quality. If you love these kind of games maybe you can overlook these issues, but we feel the game lacks the polish we saw in the previous entries of the series.
When designing a farm-sim there is a line between quiet cozy routine and abject tedium. Rune Factory 5 lands squarely in the latter. The occasionally enjoyable combat cannot make up for the unreliable farming controls, repetitive music, poor performance, ugly visuals, and lifeless world. One or two of these shortcomings could have been forgiven if Rigbarth was a world worth soaking in, but it's simply not. The mountain of issues amounts to Rune Factory 5 being lesser than the sum of its faults and one of the year’s biggest disappointments so far.
Bringing back nostalgia, a step in the right direction. Take a bit of getting use to the controls they can feel a bit clunky at times, some frame drops on switch.

Rune Factory 4 was one of my favourite Rune Factory game and here I am loving the direction they took with Rune Factory 5, they maintain the same nostalgia games mechanics as the previous Rune Factory while improving some of the games mechanics and adding new features into it. The switch to 3D from 2D is a change that I wholeheartedly welcome and enjoyed.
Now my grip with this game is that although the move to 3D was in a step to the right direction for Rune Factory. The graphic in this game is quite bad and the 3D overview just expose how bland the overview textures is, sometimes is just downright bad. The combination of the low FPS and a very clunky controller make me few like I'm playing a ps2 games at time.
Overall the game is really enjoyable but there is a lot the game can be improve on and I hope the series continue to get more love from the community and developer.

It was great for a good number of hours, but it eventually loses any challenge. I remember going through a relatively early dungeon and literally taking zero damage from the giant rolling boulders that are supposed to be traps (or just from the mobs) despite not grinding in the slightest + that farming didn't have any dimension to it that made it more interesting than just watering your crops every day. Relationships have events but aside from that you just give them their favorite thing a lot of times in a row. I did really appreciate that I could be **** at least

RF5 is probably the starkest example of a downgrade to a franchise ever.
Rune Factory has been a favorite series of mine for ages now, I've loved pretty much all of them from 2 to frontier to 4 on the 3DS and replaying 4 again on steam. However 5.....5 is just not a good game, it's not a good Rune Factory game, it's only a mediocre game in general.
The combat is exactly the same as it's been forever so nothing new to try and innovate, the farming aspect feels so optional in RF5 that you can get by without ever doing it, and the characters just feel extremely uninspired. You can tell they intended to have far more characters be romanceable but a gigantic chunk of them got cut for no real discernable reason. The western localization team badgered the JP team to add same-sex marriages into the game, which is fine. However it completely broke the game and now you get random scenes with same sex characters you're not even romancing???
Performance wise the game is a mess, with extremely long loading screens for seemingly no reason, the game looks and runs terrible (good luck getting over 15 FPS after a few weeks has passed ingame). You would think a game that got delayed for so long would be in a better state but it's obvious the game got delayed so they could cater to the demands of the localization team instead of fixing the games MANY problems.
Do not buy this game, do not support Xseed, this game is unacceptable in its current state, I feel cheated out of my money quite frankly. i will never buy another product from Xseed if THIS is what they have devolved to which **** Xseed used to be QUALITY. If you want a rune factory game go play 4 it's infinitely better.

Rune Factory 4 was amazing. Rune Factory 5 is just.... okay. I can't help but compare the two. First off, RF5 is 3D, third person. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, except the wilderness combat areas are so vast and empty -- and the dungeons are extremely boring. Both require a lot of pointless running that seems to drag. Also, RF4 had far more focus on dungeons, puzzles, combat efc. RF5 is farm sim heavy. The boss fights, dungeons, and combat are all so watered down. And the farming isn't that enjoyable either because of the frame rate issues. You need to wait a lot for texture pop for your fields. The screen often lags. Tossing items at storage is clunky.
The dash doesn't do much either. There's definite input lag when you hit the dash button. Same goes for my special moves. There's a lag issue so you're not as quick/nimble with moves in this game.
You also get far less dialogue options in cut scenes.
I do like the characters. They're basically comparable to RF4 characters. But that's really about it.
