SD GUNDAM BATTLE ALLIANCE is a great game for fans or those curious about the franchise. It brings a combat system that is not very intuitive, but easy to learn. Totally recommended for fans of the series or of giant robots.

Luckily, for every moment you dread another repetitive mission, you find three where you discover a new series, find a cool new mobile suit, or find a hidden conversation to delight longtime fans. There is a competent core game and an amazing celebration of the entire Gundam series here. You just have to survive a lot of grinding, frustrating bosses, and poor AI to find it. Take our advice: this is a ride you want to take with a friend.

SD Gundam Battle Alliance has been an absolute joy to play on both Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck over the last week with friends. I was a bit concerned about the Switch port initially, but it is great as a pick up and play game with better technical performance than I expected. It does needs some better balancing for solo play though, and the repetitive nature might turn put some off.

I was a little surprised by how much SD Gundam Battle Alliance grew on me as I played it. Experimenting with different Mobile Suits and replaying missions to build them up makes for a surprisingly entertaining gameplay loop. And the way in which the missions are both bite-sized and gradually more challenging gives ample opportunity to try out new configurations for yourself and your partners when things don't work out initially. The story itself is likely only going to appeal to a specific, dedicated part of the Gundam fanbase, but the gameplay can stand on its own for Gundam newcomers. If you're okay with some repetition and an inscrutable plot, Battle Alliance offers a fun action experience with lots to unlock and try out.

SD Gundam Battle Alliance is a great example of fan service and one which does a very good job at celebrating the Gundam series for its long-running fans. If this group will be delighted at the huge number of robots to unlock and enjoyable combat, those less versed are more likely to see the game's flaws with regards to repetitive missions and a rather lacklustre plot. With all things considered, SD Gundam Battle Alliance is an action RPG that mostly aims for the Gundam fans group rather than for a general audience.

Action, strategy and role-playing! While being aimed at fans of the animated series, SD Gundam Battle Alliance is probably one of the best gateways to getting started in the Mobile Suit Gundam universe.

Whether you’re intimately familiar with Mobile Suit Gundam or a total newcomer, the basic gist of the game should be enough to suck you in and keep you riveted. That it’s not shows just how forgettable this gameplay is – and forgettable is never a word that should apply to robots trying to blow each other up.

I love the gameplay and the short missions and collect many MS to play with. Game is a bit grindy to level your MS but thats a thing you must like or not. The gameplay is easy to learn and the only thing that bothers me sometimes was the lock on system. Grqphics are descent and there is enough to do. Expand

    The good things:
1-The game have good music and beautiful graphic .
2-The gameplay is easy to learn, but have a good difficulty.
3-the Misions are to similar but all have a boss, and they are specials and spectacular, and a challenge, you must have skill in your finger to dodge and block perfectly not to lose life.
4- You have a lot of MS, have similar combos but they have different movements and skills, and super attacks, so if you don't want get hit (and lost a lot of life), do you must learn how fight agains the boss with diferents MS.
5- The Game have a lot of hours of fun.
6- You can fight beside the most important characters of the different anime of gundam. And the character have little interaction in the beginning of the missions, that is a nice detail.
7- it will have a season pass very soon.
    8-Have a good multiplayer.
9-You can custom your pilot skil and MS stat.

    the Bad thing:
-Don't have a PvsP mode yet.
    -The history is incidental.

Admittedly, I'm mixed on this game. I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt though.

The game moves pretty quickly early on. You will unlock a pretty solid number of mobile suits early on. That said, it does become a pretty serious grind before you know it.

I started with a mobile suit whose special ability was a single strong attack. Using your special will yield extra currency from the enemies you down. I soon discovered that a mobile suit whose special allows you to stay in a buffed state (rather than doing a one-time large attack) will allow you to farm currency from the fodder they throw at you. - F91 and Gundam Alex are good examples of this. You stay buffed for a while and can pull solid currency off negligible enemies.

There are a couple of good maps for farming currency. If you are consistent with this technique while playing the story, you will amass currency. - May God have mercy on the souls of players grinding through without this technique. - Fortunately for me, the mobile suits I like happened to have these specials.

The story is solid enough and an avid Gundam fan will appreciate what they did here. There's a pretty heavy amount of dialogue, and characters often talk during intense fights. Note, there's no English dub... just subs. This is definitely a Japanese game.

All that said, the mobile suit lineup is pretty solid. No GP01 or GP02, but when you get far enough in the game it's pretty clear that they're probably coming down the pipeline in DLC. Would also love to see some mobile suits from endless waltz. No Heavy Arms... What a tragedy. The game is quirky, and and it's fun if you take it for what it's worth. It's pretty repetitive, but the Gundam designs were thoughtful and the fights are challenging. Boss fights definitely require technique. Don't try to force your way through by rushing in. They will kill you, and they will kill you quickly. With technique, proper timing, and a good amount of distance (most of the time), your allies and you can open open windows to put them down.

The game got infinitely easier when I started playing with it rather than against it. It's a solid enough game. I'd recommend it to Gundam hardos.
