Knights of the Old Republic is a remake of a classic done right. Despite some issues with clunky gameplay and visuals, the story is entertaining, and the gameplay is engaging. The missions encourage the players to explore every inch of the mining station. Overall, it’s an enjoyable experience with an immersive story.

Knights of the Old Republic II for the Nintendo Switch is a fantastic time. Aspyr does a great job, just as they did with the KOTOR port in 2021, and the experience of the story far outweighs the inconvenience that stems from the glitches.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords had a tough act to follow, but does an admirable job of creating the next chapter in the Old Republic. As a sequel it fails to surpass the high standard set by the original, but it’s still a great game and a must play for Star Wars fans. The story is one of the stronger ones in the Star Wars universe and the ability to mold it through player choices is the main attraction in KOTOR II. The dated mechanics and graphics benefit a lot from nostalgia goggles, but it holds up well enough where newcomers can still enjoy it and find it a worthwhile adventure.

Knights of the Old Republic II has withstood the test of time to still be one of the best examples of the RPG genre, even 20 years later.

Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is a fairly weak port of a flawed classic. The core characters and writing are still among the best in the entire franchise, but the gameplay is rapidly showing its age, and many of the flaws from the original release are still present. Fans of the franchise who may have skipped this particular entry should absolutely give it a shot, but for longtime fans, the Restored Content DLC is going to be the real game-changer.

Knights of the Old Republic 2 is a great and beloved game, and its gameplay, mechanics, and systems all translate well to the Switch. It’s great when it works, but the frustrating problem is getting it to work.

Also it has the best written character in Star Wars history. While the gameplay might not hold up to modern standards, the dialogue, atmosphere, and storytelling are beyond anything we see nowadays. Do yourself a favor and play this on a device that has access to the Restored Content mod.

Every time I replay this game I learn something new, and I've played through the game at least 30 times now. Hands down my favorite game of all time

The best Star Wars game/story and it's disappointing that this is a poorly done port. Luckily the cut content will be added.

Even though I wasAfter finishing this bitter-sweet title, I knew I simply had to write a review on it, despite the fact that it's quite aged. Even though I was inspired by KOTOR 1, with its grand storytelling and very nicely timed sequences and fun characters, I found the sequel severely lacking in all the areas that should matter or need to matter.

The story starts off well enough with some interesting characters and plot threads, but what it does well in the beginning increasingly gives way to overly swift and illogical execution, shoehorned and copy-pasted companions, and a general lack explanation, development, and closure overall, especially with the final act. Characters are wasted (good characters mind you); some you never hear from again, and you are left with a feeling of sheer violation by the end that may cause you to question why you spent at least 40 hours of your life on essentially a 'nothingburger' of a game.

Now, to its credit, it does manage to achieve some modicum of charm in certain parts of the story. Some dialogue is good, great at times even, and there are some very nice additions to the gameplay like saber styles and a nice crafting system. Combat is still fun and you will get your traditional dose of KOTOR action as before. Swoop racing is also given a bump in difficulty, however, for some reason it doesn't feel as impactful as it did in KOTOR 1, like it's just marking a checkbox. For all these new do-das however, it cannot carry the burden of its core failures, which become most evident about half-way through the game.

I'd like to say a couple things about the companions as well, many of whom seem superfluous, especially in light of the fact that they aren't given any real closure or depth. Some however do hold significance to the Exile and can be interesting at times, although a majority of them didn't need to be companions at all, as Kreia so keenly points out in the game herself, comically enough.

In the end, this title reveals itself as half-baked and rushed in the narrative department, and ultimately leads to a bitter and hollow end, literally severing the plot points that made characters like Visas interesting. And I apologize if this is a spoiler, but I have to point attention to the fact that there was no confrontation between Visas and Kreia at the end, no real redemption arc or defining moment of truth which was hinted at prior in the story, and no end sequence where you get to converse with your companions about the outcome of events and the future. There is just... nothing. A backstabbing of *roll-credits* after the most rushed and fairly predictable ending. In a word, it is an atrocity.

It's such a poor enactment or lack of proper storytelling that I must pass my judgment on this game. I cannot wholly condemn it for its few qualities, but there is no way I can give this a favorable score either.

In light of all I've said I must give this a 4/10, as much as it pains me to do so, not because the gameplay is bad, but because the story is so crushingly disappointing.

That said, are you a huge fan of KOTOR 1? Are you wondering about playing the sequel? Is KOTOR II: The Sith Lords worth your time? Well.. I would say it is not an unforgivable sin if you played the sequel in light of all I said. But do not do so hoping to receive the same blessings conferred by its predecessor. This is an inferior product and will undoubtedly soil your view of KOTOR as a whole. If you cannot resist the lure of the dark side however, well then you must see the truth for yourself and feel the pain of its sting. Your destiny is in your own hands.

    That is all.

Some dialog randomly skips ahead or has no volume. Sometimes the action button will be on attack, but pressing A will make you unequip your weapon mid combat. How did anyone finish this version? Clearly rushed and unpolished like most games today. Expand
