Super Magbot rewards perseverance. Initially the challenge is daunting, but when the rhythm clicks, you’ll be darting back and forth with a grin. The retro visuals are matched with a refreshingly unique control system to create a tough but addictive journey.

A precision platformer with a novel, magnetically charged traversal method, Super Magbot is a quality game. The storyline is a little lackluster but challenging yet satisfying game design makes for a very morish experience.

Super Magbot is a fun, yet at times, frustrating game. Fine-tuning your brain to think differently is difficult and even up to the final boss, the core mechanic never felt natural. However, the sense of satisfaction when completing a tough stage is priceless. For gamers looking for a challenging, unique take on the platforming genre, then Super Magbot is definitely worth checking out.

Super Magbot's fun factor almost entirely relies on if you enjoy replaying levels over and over again until you finally master them.

It clearly draws a lot of inspiration from super meat boy as far as level design goes and the very precise nature of the platforming, much like other games in that genre that SMB spawned. However it comes with a completely unique set of gameplay mechanics and an amazing art style. It is more mature than super meat boy and at the same time more kid friendly. I was skeptical when I downloaded the demo, thinking it would be a fairly bland dime a dozen platformer. However I was very quickly intrigued by the unique controls and mechanic and I bought it right away. Then very quickly I was charmed by the art style and the characters. Yes it is a platformer and there isn’t depth to the story or character back story. But there is charm in droves. It’s very lighthearted and warm. And once you understand the mechanic you pretty naturally pick it up and learn on pace with the level design. It is not overly difficult as far as these style of games go. It’s forgiving and it teaches you what you need to know very effectively. I was very pleasantly surprised by the thought and care that went into this game and I really want more people to try it and see for themselves. I hope the developers can make more fun and unique hidden gems like super magbot 9.5 / 10 all day. Expand

Your right and left arms have polarities of red and blue and the layout of each level features panels of those same colors, the trick being to use your powers of attraction and propulsion to skillfully fling yourself around and make what are sometimes tough sequences work. It’s a cool idea, and for the most part everything is implemented well, but for me there’s just a hitch in it having a flow to the motions of it all, but perhaps I just never got fully into the zone. I could get the patterns down and execute them to make it through the level but I never got to the point where it felt like second nature somehow. If you’re looking for a unique challenge in the puzzle platform space it is recommended, just it may not click for everyone.
