The officially licensed multiplayer version of the classic fantasy adventure board game, Talisman.

In Talisman Digital Edition, there are 14 characters a player can control, from the heroic Warrior to the powerful Sorceress. In this perilous adventure, players battle it out to journey across a dangerous land and be the first to claim the Crown of Command, a magical artefact with the power to destroy all rivals and make the bearer the true ruler of the kingdom. On your travels, you will need strength, courage and some good dice rolls to survive the dangers you face and beat your opponents to the centre of the board.

“Hot seat” style play is available, with you passing the Switch between your friends, alongside the more traditional multiplayer gameplay with everyone using their own controller. In a welcome addition, there’s also cross-platform online play, so you’ll be able to play with friends on the Steam, Android and iOS versions. Ultimately, it’s an extremely well-made conversion of a beloved board game to a system that’s pretty much perfect for it. The only real caveats are the excess of DLC and – let’s face it – the fairly unbalanced gameplay of the original Talisman. It’s a wonderful version of a game we love, but if you demand an absolutely level playing field in your entertainment, you may want to knock a point or two off this score.

Fans of the original Talisman board game may find the Digital Edition enjoyable, but the fact that so many characters are locked behind microtransactions, and the overall experience often amounts to a high-speed gankfest, I find it hard to recommend Talisman to anyone but the hardcore fanbase.

Talisman is an efficient recreation of the board game, right down to the pricey expansion packs available separately. There is a rich variety of content for intrepid adventurers, if you can handle the moderately user-friendly menu system.

Talisman is a classic board game, and deserves respect for that. It’s also eminently playable to this day, and very easy to pick up and play, and as such it’s a genuinely good game for lazy Sundays with friends. But the Nintendo Switch port of the game suffers from the console's limitations, and the utter reliance on luck can make this game a very frustrating experience over the longer term (and, as a quick side note at the end - games of Talisman can be long - be sure to have a pot of coffee ready as you sit down to play this one).

It has a lot of rules and the plus of the digital edition is that AI keeps an eye on the players to play their turns in a correct manner. This game has an astounding number of the DLCs which you can buy separately or in a bundle. Nintendo Switch version of the main game comes in a package with 3 dlcs: the city expansion, the sacred pool expansion and the frostmarch expansion. By getting every available expansion to the one game, while playing with friends locally/online or with AI it will take over few hours to complete the game (my longest session took 8h with breaks. Yup, you can save one game online or a few locally to continue it later on). Nomad Games really thought about the controls of the game, for me they felt rather natural, on the other hand for my friend it wasn't obvious, but he learned them quickly. Audio and graphics are great, loading is rather fast, the amount of content (with and without DLCs) is marvellous! Also, game comes with the 2 stage scale of the text which is a nice touch and it helps to play it in a handheld as well as in docked mode. Talisman is my favourite boardgame of all time and I'm going to play it on my switch for local games and on steam for the online plays (online on switch uses NSO as far as I know). Great game that gave me great memories and a lot of laughs, can't wait for more 10/10 Expand

I already have it on Android and bought it again on the Switch. There are a few things. Description text initially doesn't show in card overview until you move back and forth between two cards. Dice is sometimes ending up under the dice button in which you can't see what was rolled until the dice moves back up. It would be great to have the possibilty to set the text to small as a lot of times you have to scroll the description box at the bottom of the screen. The biggest miss is that there is no game action log as in other versions of this game. This is such a handy feature to be able to check what just happended in case things went to fast. Expand
