Tetris Effect: Connected is an incredible experience top to bottom whether playing alone or with others in the newly added competitive modes. Its effortless blending of stunning visuals and euphoric music make this so much more than just a mere puzzle game though. It’s a sensory overload, an uplifting journey and even an emotional one at times where every moment spent is nothing short of mesmerising.

There’s barely anything we can say against Tetris Effect: Connected. It’s a fantastically fresh take on a puzzler that refuses to age. This Switch iteration is the definitive way to play the game thanks to the handheld element too.

Tetris Effect: Connected came out as an eShop exclusive. I downloaded it at midnight the night it launched and played until about six in the morning. It was so mesmerizing and fun that I couldn’t stop playing it until I’d seen and heard every stage it had to offer. That might make it sound like the game is on the short side, but assuming most players take their time with the campaign, I can see it stretching out to six or seven hours to complete. Throw in the various modes and multiplayer, and Tetris Effect: Connected will keep players coming back to it for a very long time. I can’t recommend it enough—it’s a must-have for Switch owners.

Tetris Effect: Connected is one of the best Nintendo Switch games you can play today and a perfect complement to the amazing Tetris 99. If you haven't gotten it yet, the Switch conversion is brilliant and well worth your time. Hopefully it gets a physical release soon.

The backgrounds, music, and visual effects literally immersed me in the world of Tetris. The ZONE modes fit right in with this package, adding another layer to gameplay. Your movement with the Tetriminos effortlessly sync up to sound effects. The effect modes are nice too, and add great depth to the gameplay. This is a MUST-HAVE for any Tetris fan! Expand

The phenomenal audio-visual experience is retained in this edition, and is only slightly compromised by the Switch's hardware. This version does have the advantage of portability and HD Rumble, which adds to the immersion of the experience; so it's certainly worth picking up, especially if you don't own Effect on another platform. I played the Journey mode, which is the single player offline mode. There are 27 stages which can be played in a progressive manner in beginner, normal or expert difficulty. I started playing in normal difficulty but could not get past the 7th stage so I restarted the game in beginner difficulty and from then on I was able to really develop my skill set and ended up eventually beating all three difficulty modes over a two month period of regular play time. The game is addicting because you feel like you can beat a stage and just keep trying again and again until you eventually do beat it.

The soundtrack is excellent and I even listen to it when not playing the game. The visuals and effects are nifty but also a little gimmicky. The game does NOT play in the same exact way as classic Tetris. You can continuously rotate a piece and even move it side to side before it is permanently set in place. While this can be perceived as "cheating," the game still poses a great challenge even with this new mechanic. One frustration is that sometimes the next piece comes too soon and you accidentally cause several pieces to stack up quickly and it can really ruin your progress.

At the end of the day, this game is a glorified version of Tetris with a few new gameplay mechanics. But I very much enjoyed it and you get a great sense of accomplishment when completing a stage.

This only proves how poor is the library on the Switch. This game first ver was released on 2019. 3 years later , you hear it right, 3 friggin years later is finally getting a port to the Switch. This only demonstrates how terrible is the library management of Nintendo that is absurd to give it a good score just to prove something? Menawhile they can say: We at Nintendo are giving our best efforts for you to have the best games. Absurd as it sounds. What a joke of a company for gaming's sake.
