Although not playing the original, The Escapists 2 is still an enjoyable game, especially if you don’t have a lot of time on your hands as it can be played in spurts with how the game and save mechanics work, each day lasting around fifteen minutes. However, the first prison you play through might take a while to escape if you’re not familiar with how the game works. Though the tutorial level does help out a bit, there were still some things I didn’t know about that would have made things a lot easier my first time playing.

More of a refinement of the original than seeking to right its wrongs, The Escapists 2 on Nintendo Switch adds more of what fans enjoyed in the first place, whilst still not quite advocating enough time to entice a newer crowd.

With its sandbox style approach to escaping, sometimes you might find yourself flapping in the wind and unsure what to do next. The pacing of the game has been improved since the first one, with less time spent waiting around. The 16-bit style visuals have also been given a nice step up, with the game overall looking and playing great.

The Escapists 2 is a management-strategic game that improves some aspects of the predecessor and adds a successful multiplayer component.

The Escapists 2 is a well-made sandbox game and a fun continuation of the series. While the title gives you a good amount of freedom and tools to spend your time in fun ways, it can also get rather repetitive and overwhelming. The Nintendo Switch version mostly runs well, although the two-player limitation on local play is disappointing.

The Escapists 2 is a solid improvement over its predecessor, and a fun prison escapade in its own right. While all of its parts don’t come together in the most ideal manner, busting out of prison remains a blast when you finally manage to conquer the obstacles set against you. Combine that with a staggering amount of variety and replay value, and you have a package that’s well worth going under for.

In a move that doesn't happen often these days, I'm going to go against the mainstream critics and fans and say The Escapists 2 is a Switch game that doesn't even deserve a first look, let alone a second. If I want to feel the opposite of entertained, and instead an emotion bordering on physical pain, I'd save my money and throw myself down the stairs. My home has two flights, one for each game in this inexplicably popular series. Good news! I never have to play either again, and I can get the same feeling by hurling myself down one of the two carpeted inclines in my own home - for free.

Definitely give the multiplayer a try. Couldn't be less unfun! You don't have to have played the original. Listen to what I say for real!

It worked again for the first few hours then the problem happened again! I say don’t get the game until they update it (or if there’s a good sale for it) because the crashes basically make the game unplayable. Oh yeah and don’t try the option “check for corrupt data” because it will say that there’s no corrupt data. Expand

The Switch version of this game is unacceptable, this game is really fun, when it actually decides to work. First of all when ever I boot upThe Switch version of this game is unacceptable, this game is really fun, when it actually decides to work. First of all when ever I boot up the game I am forced to wait a really long time so a screen can pop up, the screen is a Internet connection thing I do not understand why it makes me wait that long just to log onto the Internet. Then when I finally get onto the menu I select my game. Then multiple times recently I have just been playing and then a error has occurred message keeps popping up which boots me back to the Switch home menu. What? It should not be doing this it has done it three times and it was perfectly fine yesterday. This game is really fun and I really like it but there is something wrong. I don't know if it is just me but it needs to be fixed. Expand
